It has been confirmed Didier Drogba will not feature at the weekend, scuppering The Fantasist's attempt at an all-Chelsea team (and yes, it was fanciful rather than a deadly-serious attempt to build a team - you can only say 'buy double-gamers' so many times).

That is rotten news for his owners, especially those who got him dirt cheap at the start of the season.

Do you get rid and try to find an adequate replacement for 10 or 11,  or sit tight and hope that in time he repays you for a couple of weeks with no score?

It's a tough call, but at the moment The Fantasist is erring towards keeping him in the line-up instead of writing off a massive value increase, and hoping he only misses one game.

Robin van Persie's ankle injury will keep him out for up to six weeks so there's no argument - he must be replaced.

The injuries mean a lack of premium strikers, so Fernando Torres will be a popular acquisition this week even with a tough match-up against Manchester City.

    About Fantasy Football

The Fantasist is an expert, no, a guru, in all things Fantasy Football. It will dispense its wisdom throughout the season, unravelling the great mysteries of our time. Conundrums like "Aaron Hughes or Stephen Warnock?' and 'Where does Matty Taylor get all those points from?' During the barren summer months, The Fantasist satisfies its gaming needs by losing a small fortune at its local bingo hall. Consequently, it has a lot riding on Eurosport-Yahoo!'s £5 entry, winner-takes-all office league this season.
