    Wigan and Villa fighting fit

This weekend may be the time to pick some Wigan and Aston Villa players for your Fantasy team, as the relegation-battling duo find form and fitness when it counts.

After dreadful seasons the pair have no injuries, with Wigan's only first-team absence the suspended Maynor Figueroa.

Wigan were bottom at various spells but a 3-1 win at Blackpool has taken them out of the relegation zone - Hugo Rodallega and Charles N'Zogbia the key men for the Latics.

They travel to Sunderland at the weekend, with the Black Cats having just lost keeper Craig Gordon for the season and without a win in nine games - since they sold star striker Darren Bent to Villa.

Speaking of which Villa are at home to Stoke, with their Midlands rivals all-but safe and semi-delirious after they spanked Bolton to qualify for the FA Cup final: it would be foolish not to back Villa in such a match, particularly with the Potters still missing John Carew and Danny Higginbotham.

At the top of the table there are minor worries over Chelsea defender Alex and fellow Brazilian Ramires, but with everyone else fit they should have too much for poor West Ham: replace Alex with attacking full-back Jose Bosingwa or Arsenal counterpart Bacary Sagna, who both should be fit with the Gunners playing Bolton on Sunday.

And whatever you do sell Paul Scholes - his mad challenge in the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester City rules him out of United's next three matches; Darren Fletcher may not be risked so your best bet is Anderson.

    About Fantasy Football

The Fantasist is an expert, no, a guru, in all things Fantasy Football. It will dispense its wisdom throughout the season, unravelling the great mysteries of our time. Conundrums like "Aaron Hughes or Stephen Warnock?' and 'Where does Matty Taylor get all those points from?' During the barren summer months, The Fantasist satisfies its gaming needs by losing a small fortune at its local bingo hall. Consequently, it has a lot riding on Eurosport-Yahoo!'s £5 entry, winner-takes-all office league this season.
