There was disappointment for British pole vaulter Holly Bleasdale when she failed to medal at the London Olympics - but she was soon celebrating anyway when her boyfriend proposed to her.
The 20-year-old from Wigan was in tears when she finished sixth in her event and she told reporters afterwards that she was "heartbroken" at her performance.
However, there was bigger news to come which led to a quick reassessment.
"6th in the Olympics and @bradshaaaw proposes to me :) epic day!!!," she wrote on Twitter.
Her boyfriend Paul also took to the social network site to confirm the news of their engagement.
"I have just proposed to @HollyBleasdale and she said yes!!!!! Best day ever!"
Earlier, Bleasdale admitted a lack of experience cost her dear as she stuttered over her opening height of 4.45 metres at the second attempt then failed to take out a normally regulation 4.55m.
"I'm really heartbroken," she said.
"I felt like I could have jumped 4.70m but I struggled to cope with the conditions, there was a really bad headwind and then, all of a sudden, there was a strong crosswind.
"You can't be too disappointed to finish in the top eight of an Olympic final I suppose but I wanted more.
"I am really privileged to have competed in front of a crowd like this. I think I was lacking experience, as when the other girls come to a competition they know what to expect, and I don't. Hopefully, by Rio, I will be at the top of my game."
