Is Cipriani finally turning the corner at Sale?

Danny Cipriani produced a man-of-the-match display in Sale's 36-17 victory over Scarlets in the LV=Cup at the weekend.

It was ironic that the 25-year-old produced his eye-catching performance on the eve of the 2013 Six Nations, having been unsurprisingly omitted from the Red Rose squad by Stuart Lancaster.

However, it appears Cipriani may be turning a corner as he scored a try, four penalties and two conversions in a credible 21-point haul against the Welsh side to help Sale go top of their LV=Cup group - in stark contrast to the Aviva Premiership fortunes.

    About Oval Talk

Rugby has to fight for its voice in the football-obsessed world of British sport, but thankfully there are enough fans of the oval ball to warrant a weekly look at issues affecting the game. Oval Talk cannot promise the same level of scurrilous tittle-tattle and unfounded rumour that emerges daily from football columns, but - casting off its Barbour and adopting the refreshing candour of an Aussie commentator – it can bring you the kind of debate that would have had old farts at HQ spluttering into their Fullers.
