European Team of the Week: October 6-7

Opta kept a watchful eye across all the games taking place in Europe's biggest leagues this weekend and put together a best XI.

Lionel Messi's double against Real Madrid earned him a spot in attack but Los Merengues star Cristiano Ronaldo did not make it this week despite his own brace in the 2-2 draw.

Franck Ribery also scored twice in Bayern Munich's 2-0 victory over Hoffenheim and features on the right with Juventus veteran Andrea Pirlo operating in the middle after completing 86 passes in the win at Siena.

Eden Hazard returned to prominence in the Chelsea attack and is joined in the side by Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra, who scored at Newcastle, and Tottenham centre-half Steven Caulker, who was also on target.

Schalke are represented in defence and attack by Japan's Atsuto Uchida and Peru's Jefferson Farfan.
