The new season is drawing nearer and while we wait for the football to begin, we are treated to a slew of kit releases. We've just about recovered from the maverick Liverpool away kit release of a month ago, and it's time to take a fresh look at the efforts of the Premier League teams.
Who has got it right, and who has made a fashion faux-pas this summer? We round up our favourites so far.
THE BEST (in no particular order)
Manchester United's home kit
Photo - official
Why it works: It's a twist on a classic. Back to a straight red, with a nod to a former great with the 'Cantona' collar.
Arsenal's home kit
Why it works: Because it's the same last year's! That's good because (1) we're already used to it, and more importantly (2) fans aren't being asked to go out and buy a new one.
Norwich's home kit
Why it works: Yes, there's a change with the addition of the green, but it fits with former versions of the kit.
Chelsea's away kit
Chelsea official (home kit left, away kit right)
Why it works: Simple, and yet different enough from previous Blues away kits to stand out.
Crystal Palace's away kit Crystal Palace official (home kit left, away kit right)
Why it works: The diagonal stripe. That is all.
Hull City's home kit
Why it works: Not deviating too far from the classic design, but still bright and bold.
AND THE WORST (again, in no particular order)
Liverpool's away kit
Why it doesn't work: Can you look at it without thinking 'Space Invaders?'
Liverpool's third kit
Why it doesn't work: Purple.
Cardiff City's home kit
Why it doesn't work: Because it's still not blue.
Aston Villa's away kit
Why it doesn't work: The team photo runs the risk of resembling a chessboard.
Southampton's home kit
Why it doesn't work: The all-red shirt wasn't popular with fans - despite a new supplier and the chance to get back to the stripes, they have not.
Sunderland's away kit
Why it doesn't work: It looks like a goalkeeper's jersey.
Manchester United's away kit
Why it doesn't work: Various shades of black. Part shirt, part table-cloth.
Swansea's away kit
Why it doesn't work: Does this require explanation?
Stoke City's away kit
Why it doesn't work: Part of this kit is luminous, which is useful only in the event of a powercut.
