    Extreme
sports fanatic Jesse Coombs has survived an astonishing plunge off the Abiqua
    Falls in Oregon.

    The
40-year-old adventurer - who has pulled off a string of daring stunts in his
kayak - spent two days preparing for the feat,
making sure that his incredible achievement would be caught on camera.

    When the
moment of truth arrived, Jesse calmly paddled to the edge of the drop - then
braced himself for the three-second drop into the plunge pool below.

    The brutal
impact left him with a fractured shoulder
and a collapsed lung  - but it could have been worse. The only person to 'jump'

  • Di Canio runs half marathon by accident

    Swindon manager
Paolo Di Canio's plans to join in the town's fun run went awry when he took a
wrong turn and ended up on a half marathon course.

    The 43-year-old
was at the event to start the main race, before participating in the two-mile short course.

    The
Italian's mishap meant he went the full half marathon distance - 13.1 miles -
as well as an additional 800 metres on the original route.

    But having
realised his mistake, Di Canio opted not to pull out of the race.

    "I couldn't stop, there was a
challenge," he told BBC Wiltshire. "There were three options, I

    Scandal of the Week: Tevezgate

    "He
refused to warm up and again refused to go on the pitch... If we want to
improve as a team Carlos can't play with us. With me, he is finished." - Manchester
City boss Roberto Mancini after Carlos Tevez apparently refused to go
on as a substitute against Bayern Munich.

    "In
Munich on Tuesday I had warmed up and was ready to play. This is not the right
time to get into specific details as to why this did not happen. But I wish to
state that I never refused to play. There was some confusion on the bench and I
believe my position may have been misunderstood. Going

  • Referee refuses to officiate identical twins

A referee in Germany refused to officiate a match involving a pair of identical twins due to a bizarre event from his past.

In an amateur clash involving TSV Sackenbach, controversy erupted when the home team's coach brought on 18-year-old twin brothers Luke and Felix Termathe in the second-half.

However, the referee Reinhold Bieberich was unhappy when he noticed the lookalikes on the pitch telling the players: "Even if it's wrong, I will not continue refereeing this match with twins if I cannot distinguish them clearly."

  • The world’s worst stadium views

After QPR owner Tony Fernandes pledged to look into the case of a season-ticket holder who was aggrieved at the view from his seat at Loftus Road (right), we were inspired to trawl the internet and find the worst stadium views around.

There was no shortage of awful vantage points to choose from, whether unlucky punters found their view of the action obscured, or if they were denied even a hint of leg room.

Here for your enjoyment are the pick of a particularly bad bunch.

Let this be a warning to takers of cheeky penalties everywhere - when things go wrong you can end up looking like a right idiot.

Amir Sayoud of Egyptian giants Al Ahly perpetrated one of the worst penalties of all time on Tuesday when he attempted to deceive Kima Aswan's goalkeeper from the spot.

Amir approached the ball and faked to shoot but pulled back at the last moment as the goalkeeper move to his right.
