  • You may think that the Lingerie Football League is all about exploitation and silliness, and well ... yes it is. Let's not fool ourselves. But these ladies do love themselves some football, and if you think they don't take it seriously when they're in the arena, I give you this wallop laid by one Nikki Johnson of the Regina Rage.

I'm not sure what the formation is here, but it's a standard quarterback option, and Ms. Johnson would not be denied. Veering around the left side in the direction of the end zone, Johnson took out defender Davine Burton of the Toronto Triumph to score with an

  • Wayne Fisher, a former Paralympic basketball player for Great Britain, has been told he will not receive benefits because he is not disabled enough.

Fisher, who had his lower leg removed as a child because of a condition which meant it did not grow normally, had applied for a disability living allowance after losing his job, in the hope that he could apply for an automatic Motability car, and increase his chances of finding work.

But despite having received the allowance when he last needed it in 2005, he discovered he was ineligible for the benefit because it is now only available to the

  • Juggling footballer breaks world record

Freestyle footballer Matt Wolstenholme has broken the record for the longest distance travelled while juggling a football .

No doubt inspired by the Olympics, the Londoner took to the athletics track at Harrow School, and while keeping a football in the air, walked a full 20km.

The feat involved completing 50 laps of the track, which in less than perfect conditions took five hours to complete.

"It was a tough challenge," said Wolstenholme, 30. "I was out there for five hours in the wind and rain and I didn't eat or drink anything.

"Most of the time I simply kicked the ball from foot to foot,

  • Tributes are seen on the gates at Anfield

Trevor Hicks, the chairman of the Hillsborough Family Support Group, addressed Kelvin MacKenzie, editor of The Sun newspaper at the time, after his apology had been made.

    "It is too little, too late. He's a low-life. A clever low-life... but a low-life."

Hicks, who lost two daughters at Hillsborough, said that the group would pursue legal action.

"If I come back to David Cameron's statement [to MPs], he said quite categorically that the state had let us down. So we will give the state the opportunity to put that right. But if it looks as though they're not going to do that, then we will do as

  • Goalkeeper Michel Alves has been responsible for one of the strangest own goals of recent times in a second-tier match in Brazil.

The stopper, plying his trade for Criciuma against America Mineiro, had a busy afternoon, with his side slipping to a 4-0 defeat.

But he could have made life considerably easier for himself. Having made a comfortable low save with the score at 2-0, Alves rises to his feet, knocks the ball, like a bar of soap, off his knee and into the goal without a soul anywhere near him.

With the rest of the field having turned away expecting a big clearance up the pitch, it

  • Goalkeeper scores incredible overhead goal in stoppage time

Frem goalkeeper Jakob Kohler did what his outfield team-mates could not as he scored an incredible overhead equaliser in stoppage time in a Danish Second Division East match against Birkerod.

In the 92nd minute, Kohler stormed up the field for his side's last-ditch attempt to find an elusive equaliser from a corner kick with Birkerod - in the third tier of Danish football - 1-0 up with seconds left on the clock.

The initial cross from the corner was headed away from goal, before a Frem cross was delivered Kohler's way, and he executed a quite stunning overhead kick.

  • Yoink! Little girl beaten to souvenir ball by adult

Norichika Aoki of the Milwaukee Brewers baseball team threw a ball into the stands where a young girl had been waiting eagerly in the hopes of grabbing a souvenir.

Just as she thought her dreams had come true, however, a grown-up with longer arms leapt in front of her and grabbed the ball.

Bemused, the girl went back to her seat with her mum, looking sullen-faced.

The good news for her, though, was that the television cameras had captured the entire incident.

The girl was tracked down in the crowd, and given the ball after all.
