Arsenal players perform ballet in car ad

Arsenal might be among the Premier League's most stylish teams, but a new advert shows they are no match for the poise and grace of professional ballerinas.

Four dancers from the English National Ballet put Wojciech Szczesny, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alex Song and Bacary Sagna through their paces in the commercial for French car manufacturer Citroen.

The advert, shot at Brocket Hall in Hertfordshire, shows the Gunners struggling to pick up the basics.

Oxlade-Chamberlain looks dangerously close to dropping a ballerina as he attempts to lift her skywards at one point.

By the end, the players are able to put on a respectable show, though they apparently do not meet with the approval of Arsenal legend Martin Keown, who puts in a guest appearance on the piano.

Some other classic adverts featuring footballers:

Eric Cantona has appeared in numerous spots for Nike, none better than this match against the devil. All together now: "Au revoir".

Bobby Moore and his wife Tina promote the virtues of your local pub (really) in an ad from the 1960s.

In a bizarre piece of fancy dress lunacy, Pat Jennings dresses up as an oil filter to tout Unipart.

Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs and Patrice Evra deliver some toe-curlingly bad acting in an advert for Chilean winemaker Casillero del Diablo.

Why is Jamie Redknapp playing golf, topless, on a beach? Just why? Not the day to be innocently building sand castles 150 yards away.
