Arsenal and Denmark star Nicklas Bendtner helped foil a blackmail plot after thieves stole a laptop that contained intimate pictures of him and his girlfriend.
Bendtner is dating Danish actress Julie Zangenberg and it was from her car that the computer was stolen.
According to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet the computer contained nearly 100 photographs of Bendtner in bed with Zangenberg.
The thieves asked for 25,000 kroner (£2,657) from Bendtner to return the computer and also looked to sell the photographs to Danish newspapers.
Bendtner's relationships are big news in Denmark as he has a child with Caroline Luel-Brockdorff — a member of the Danish royal family.
The striker is on an estimated £50,000-a-week at Arsenal — a salary he said he deserved last year because he has to make big sacrifices as a player - such as giving up skiing.
However, instead of paying what would have been for him a nominal fee, he went to the police to hatch a plan to get the computer back.
Police then set a trap for the thieves and arrested them when they tried to collect the money at a city fountain in Copenhagen.
The thieves have since been bailed on extortion and theft charges.
Neither Bendtner nor his current girlfriend Zangenberg have commented on the blackmail plot.
Bendtner is expected to be sold by Arsenal after falling out of Arsene Wenger's plans in recent seasons.
