British Grand Prix: All you need to know

This weekend sees the Formula One circus touch down in Britain — and we have a veritable shedload of information for you on this famous race.

Having hosted the first race of the first World Championship in 1950, Silverstone holds a special place in the hearts of racing fans all over the world.

It boasts high-speed corners such as Hangar Straight, meaning aerodynamic efficiency is key to success, as espoused by our F1 blogger Will Gray.

Home drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button are hopeful of a podium at least, with Hamilton a past winner at the track — but Button has struggled there in the past.

Their Woking-based McLaren team are taking upgrades to the grand prix.

We have all the driver facts for you, and go into great statistical depth and look at the specific characteristics of the 5.901km circuit in our race guide.

Weather can be a factor, as seen in Hamilton's famous victory in 2008. Silverstone are preparing contingency plans in the likely event of rain.

See below for a comprehensive list of preview material — and enjoy the grand prix!

We will be bringing you live coverage of every session — follow the latest developments here.
