Daniel Morad secured a remarkable victory in the DD2 World Go Karting Championship in Italy, but followed it with an incredible gaffe when he crashed while celebrating the chequered flag.
The Canadian lined up 13th on the grid and made an outstanding start to pick up 10 places on the first lap.
He managed to move up to second place two laps later, but victory seemed unlikely as leader Maik Barten had already pulled away from the field.
But gradually the 20-year-old Morad overhauled Barten and took the lead on the 13th lap before going on to complete the win.
However, as he celebrated wildly his shoelace got caught in his brake pedal, causing him to lose control and spin off the track, where he smashed into the advertising hoardings.
The mistake cost him a 500 euro fine from the race stewards.
Not that the Lebanese-born driver will be too worried as he was only racing to stay sharp ahead of the 2011 GP3 series.
Despite the embarrassing error, the race proved perfect stepping stone for a driver widely tipped to one day make his mark in Formula One.
