Mascot stages protest over fellow mascot’s sending off

Sheffield United's mascot Captain Blade staged a half-time
protest in solidarity over the 'sending-off' of Preston mascot Deepdale Duck at
    the weekend.

Deepdale Duck (pictured below, left) was escorted from the pitchside during
Preston's home clash with Derby County on Saturday for trying to put off the
Derby goalkeeper during a penalty kick.

The incident infuriated the Blades' mascot, who downed his
cutlasses at half-time during United's match against Doncaster on Monday in
order to stage a sit-in protest in solidarity at the treatment of his fellow
    mascot.

Captain Blade refused to move from the centre circle at Bramall
Lane as he held up a sign declaring, "Free the Preston one," with the
protest delaying the beginning of the second half of the match.
