Drivers and marshalls alike made a miraculous escape at
Brands Hatch after a racing car flew out of control and flipped over crash
Seat Leon Eurocup driver Francisco Carvalho collided with
fellow drivers as they went wheel-to-wheel round a corner at the Kent circuit,
and was knocked off the track.
With Carvalho unable to regain control his car was smashed
into the metal crash barriers, causing it to flip into the air and spin round
several times before flipping over the barriers towards a group of race
The marshalls fled in terror, and thankfully managed to get
out of the way of the wildly flipping car before it came to a stop.
And for Carvalho there was even better news to ease his
bumps and bruises: with the race red flagged, half-points were awarded based on
the standings at the end of the previous lap - meaning that the Portuguese
driver was credited with finishing fourth and recording the fastest lap of the
