A heating engineer became a millionaire at the races despite only spending a measly £2.
Steve Whiteley got a free ticket to the Exeter Races and used his bus pass to get to the course.
At the races, the 60-year-old spent £2 on the Tote Jackpot and successful picked all six of the day's winners to win a whopping £1.4 million jackpot.
The massive win came on the day of his partner Jill's 53rd birthday but, despite the big win, Whiteley said he would not be buying her a present.
"I'm not getting her a present now - I've already got her a 65p card," said the father of two from North Tawton, Devon.
"I'm not really a gambling man. I phoned up today and it was free so I used my bus pass to get here.
"I won't be giving up work as I still have a few jobs to do before we go away on holiday to Australia to see some of Jill's family."
Whiteley's win was confirmed when 12-1 shot Lupita, ridden by Jessica Lodge, won the final race of the day.
"Lodge was a name that was hanging in my head," he said, when explaining his final pick.
Whiteley's selections were:
Semi Colon 2/1 fav
Black Phantom 12-1
Ammunition 16-1
Mr Bennett 16-1
Lundy Sky 5-1
Lupita 12-1
