Ryan Giggs has followed
in the footsteps of weather girls and soap stars across the nation by making his own fitness
DVD.
The legendary Manchester
United midfielder's DVD - "Giggs Fitness: Strength
& Conditioning, Inspired By Yoga" - was only released at HMV on Monday, but has already broken into the shop's top 20 fitness DVDs thanks to eager fans pre-ordering
the product.
"Giggs
Fitness is a comprehensive guide to the secrets of my strength and
fitness," the veteran superstar says in a promotional video on the Amazon shopping
website, where the DVD will be available as of Monday 10 January.
"People
often come up to me and ask 'How are you still playing at 36? How are you still
playing for United?', and I explain one of the main reasons is because I do
yoga."
Giggs, who has
been a yoga fanatic for around seven years, has made the DVD alongside
experienced instructor Sarah Ramsden.
The DVD consists
of one main 40-minute workout including "core, chest and thoracic spine and
passive flexibility" sections, according to the publisher's description on
Amazon, as well as five further 10-minute circuits "based on common issues
and restrictions".
Giggs's fitness DVD
is expected to keep on climbing in the charts, according to HMV's Gennaro Castaldo.
"As a
high-profile and respected footballer, who has always looked after himself and
set a fantastic example to others, he must be well-placed to appeal to quite a
few health-conscious guys," he explained.
