    Striker scores ‘scorpion kick’ goal

It was only yesterday that on these very pages we were reminiscing about legendary goalkeeper Rene Higuita, after a Subbuteo figure of his famous 'scorpion kick' was created.

And yet here we are once again remembering the Colombian superstar after a goal was scored that even he would have been proud of.

The strike in question was by Seoul FC's South American midfield star Mauricio Molina, who found himself having outrun a cross in his side's Korean top flight clash against Busan on Sunday.

There seemed no way for the 32-year-old to latch onto the ball, but rather than fall to his knees and punch the turf in frustration he had a go at pulling off a scorpion kick - and managed to middle it straight into the open goal.

Seoul won the match 6-0, but this was no late flash of fun late on: instead, it was the first goal of the game, barely eight minutes after kick off.

But what else would you expect? After all Molina, like the man who inspired his moment of genius, is a Colombian.
