Teenage hockey star Emma Broad died mysteriously in her
sleep just a few weeks after being called into the England squad.
The 16-year-old was found by her mother on Sunday morning,
and though paramedics were called to her home in Weybridge Emma was already
GCSE student Emma had been called up by England for an U16
tournament in Spain, scoring a goal against Germany, and had hopes of making
the senior squad for next year's Olympics. She will be laid to rest in her
"Emma was absolutely amazing," said her father
Phil. "She was a girl who dreamed big and then strove to achieve it.
"She'd always dreamed of playing for her country and
was ecstatic to be picked. Her next goal was the Olympics. But she was always
humble - I don't think she knew how much she had achieved in such a short
period of time.
"She brought sunshine to everyone she met."
The cause of Emma's death has not yet been determined, but
the circumstances are not suspicious.
