Having negotiated over 2,000 miles unscathed, Johan Van Summeren suffered an embarrassing fall just metres into the penultimate stage of the Tour de France.
The Belgian rolled off the ramp to start the time trial from Bordeaux to Pauillac, but lost balance almost immediately and toppled over.
The 29-year-old Garmin-Transitions rider quickly remounted, completing the stage in 139th place, over nine minutes behind stage winner Fabian Cancellara.
Van Summeren's mishap was put down to starting the time trial in the wrong gear.
