    World Cup Venn: Day 17

If you thought Day 16's question about three number ones was quirky, you'll think today's Venn is completely bonkers.

And even if you didn't, you'll probably still think it was bonkers.

Your question, as ever: who are these three people, and what is the World Cup link between them?

The people are Alcides Ghiggia, Pope John Paul II and Frank Sinatra. And the link between them? The Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro. Years after he scored the later winner goal in front of 200,000 fans at the 1950 World Cup final, the Uruguayan winger gave one of football's most famous quotes: "Only three people have ever silenced 200,000 people at the Maracana with a single gesture: Frank Sinatra, Pope John Paul II and me."

No prizes for figuring out that yesterday's question was about goalkeepers. But who are they, and what was the link?

They are the only goalkeepers never to have picked the ball out of their net in a World Cup final. The trio are Bodo Illgner (Germany, 1990), Marcos (Brazil, 2002) and Fabien Barthez (France 1998).

If you're wondering about Gianluca Pagliuca and Claudio Taffarel - well, both kept clean sheets in normal time of the 1994 final, but both picked the ball out of the net during the penalty shoot-out.
