  1. - - A stunning win for Mark Cavendish in this 11th stage of the Giro d'Italia, reaching the line at Arenzano first, with a superb sprint! The average speed of the race was 44,080km/h. Thanks for joining us today!

  2. 0km - Cavendish takes it! What a win for the Brit, who once again produces in the final sprint for the line, and he emerged from a crowd of riders to steal it!

  3. 1km - Cavendish is pushing furiously, sprinting for the line and looks like he will take it, but five other riders are challenging right to the finish line...

  4. 2km - Mark Cavendish suddenly emerges from the pack with a ferocious attack on the outside of Gasparotto: this is going to the line!

  5. 3km - Gasparotto continues to force the pace up front, but he is being stalked by a host of other riders on the final push.

  6. 4km - The final sprint is being led by Gasparotto, with Di Luca remaining in contention, along with a host of other riders.

  7. 5km - Garmin lead the bunch of riders in the chasing pack, and the group shows little sign of dispersing, with the intensity being sustained at the front.

  8. 6km - Popovych and Gasparotto continue to break away, looking to close out the stage after their sudden move.

  9. 7km - Popovych is also up front with Gasparotto, as the chasing pack remain bunched.

  10. 8km - As the riders move inside the final 10km to Arenzano, Gasparotto seizes the initative with a big push.

  11. 9km - Pozzato heads the chasing bunch as gaps begin to emerge at the front, with Di Luca packed in the middle of the leading group.

  12. 10km - Having reached the top of Passo del Turchino, the riders begin the final descent through Mele, Voltri and Vesima. Lance Armstrong and leader Danilo Di Luca head the large pack at the front.

  13. 13km - The Astana team surge to the front as a group, heading the rest of the pack, with Lance Armstrong in hot pursuit of Garzelli.

  14. 15km - Vladimir Isaichev, of the Xacobeo Galicia team, is finally overtaken by Marco Marzano, with Garcia Fernani heading the chasing pack in close attendance.

  15. 20km - Isaichev is dropping like a stone now, with his lead being reduced to just 10 seconds from Marzano, heading the chasing pack. Check out the inner workings of a cycling team as the Eurosport cameras captured the Astana pre-stage 10 pep talk, by clicking here.

  16. 25km - The gap is now just 1'45" from the chasing pack, while the peloton is reduced to 15 from 30.

  17. 30km - With the steady incline up through Campo Ligure and Masone, all the way up to Passo del Turchino; Visconti establishes second spot.

  18. 35km - The gap is narrowed to 3'48", with Isaichev being reeled in slightly by a chasing pack of 30 riders.

  19. 40km - Isaichev's lead is reduced to 4'50", as the riders move briskly through Ovada, nearing Rossiglione.

  20. 45km - 5'10" is the gap between Vladimir Isaichev and the peloton at the moment, with the chasing group remaining very condensed.

  21. 50km - The chasing pack are moving at 53km/h, while Isaichev is dropping slightly at 49km/h as we move into the final 50km.

  23. 60km - It really is very hot today in stage 11, as Vladimir Isaichev continues to open up his lead.

  24. 65km - The average pace of the riders so far in stage 11 is now 45,200, as the riders keep their momentum steady.

  25. 70km - Isaichev opens up an advantage over the peloton of 6'50" as he continues to sustain his intensity.

  26. 75km - Leipheimer re-enters the pack after recovering quickly from his fall, while Isaichev is now 18 seconds off the front riders.

  27. 80km - The group is very condensed, with limited room for breaks at the moment, but Isaichev manages to force an attack on the outside.

  28. 85km - Speaking of Astana, Leipheimer comes off his bike, but it is not serious, and he is quickly back riding.

  29. 90km - Katusha returns to the large bunch of riders, 13 seconds behind the leading pack.

  31. 100km - The advantage of the group of four riders is approaching two minutes now, as Donati, Meyer, Cesar and Grabovskyy up the tempo once again.

  32. 105km - The front rider's lead is reduced to 1'35" as the average pace of the riders in the stage is now 47,100km/h.

  33. 110km - There is a collision between Fernandez, Gatto and Pozzato as all three riders fall, but quickly get back going again.

  34. 115km - The lead is now 1'42" as the front riders look to further consolidate their advantage.

  35. 120km - There is a gap of 1'05" from the front group to the sparse bunch of riders behind them, as Donati, Meyer, Cesar Veloso and Grabovskyy press on.

  36. 125km - Donati joins the three in a group of their own after surging to the front, and the stage is well set up as the riders power through Asti.

  37. 130km - Cesar Veloso makes a sudden charge from the rest of the group, with an immediate counter by Meyer and Grabovskyy in close attendance.

  38. 135km - The group of 13 riders are reeled back in, and the front group is now dispersed again.

  39. 140km - A group of 13 riders form the front group now, as Donati joins the action with earnest.

  40. 145km - As the riders move through Villafranca d'Asti, a counter-attack is made by Ermeti and Mayer to Krivtsov and Popovych's moves.

  41. 150km - Krivtsov challenges Popovych with a fierce step up in intensity, breaking from the outside of the peloton.

  42. 155km - Rodriguez withdraws from the race, as Popovych looks to consolidate his slender lead from the peloton.

  43. 160km - Popovych makes a sudden break from the pack, and establishes a small gap in front of the peloton: the first real move today!

  44. 165km - As the riders move through Villanover d'Asti, the average speed so far in the stage has been 47,200km/h. To see the Giro gallery, click here.

  45. 170km - There are a number of fans expected in the tourist zone of Liguria, where you can have a nice plate of fish and Trofiette Genovese. The peloton remains very compact thus far.

  46. 175km - Cataldo and Serov, after their tentative attack a few kilometres back, sit with relative circumspection in the pack now.

  47. 180km - Stage 11 is perfect for a break away, and the big group of riders look to be biding their time before making a late charge into Arenzano, arriving in Liguria on the seaside.

  48. 185km - The group becomes slightly detached briefly, as Cataldo and Serov launch an attack, but get hauled in quickly.

  50. 195km - Chris Horner, who has competed valiantly so far in the Giro d'Italia despite breaking his collarbone in a horrific crash at the Vuelta al País Vasco in April, is unable to start today.

  52. 205km - With the arduous time trial tomorrow on stage 12, the main contenders are unlikely to feature too prominently today, with a strong sprint expected later on.

  53. 210km - As the riders begin stage 11, Danilo Di Luca carries an overall lead in the race of one minute 20 seconds over second placed Dennis Menchov, with Rogers third at 1'33" and Leipheimer fourth at 1'40".

  54. 214km - The weather is very sunny today in Torino as the riders are about to get going, with highs of 29 degrees.

  55. 214km - Today's 11th stage of the Giro d'Italia is a 214km ride from Torino to Arenzano in Genova, and will get underway at 12:10 local time.
