British skating team named for Vancouver

The British Olympic Association have announced their first competitors for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games after the figure skating places were confirmed at the national championships in Sheffield.

Cooke suspended for head check

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Matt Cooke has been suspended for two games for a "deliberate check to the head area" of New York Rangers center Artem Anisimov.

Cooke was assessed a minor penalty for the hit, which occurred during the third period of the Penguins' 8-3 victory Saturday in Pittsburgh. He will miss Monday's game against the Rangers in New York and December 3 against Colorado.

Anisimov, a 21-year-old Russian, was injured on the play and did not return to the game.

Reigning world downhill champion John Kucera is airlifted off the mountain Sunday after crashing out of the first men's World Cup Super-G of the alpine ski season.
