This week was pretty straight-forward. How many spots were available for Everton players and how many could you afford? For me, the Yak and Arteta were no brainers. Yak is the one player capable of really breaking out. He almost did it against West Ham only to be denied a second goal by a curious offside decision. Arteta hasn't played up to his usual standards recently, but he takes kicks and potentially penalties. And he can quicly earn points on crosses, corners, shots, etc.
Everton's defence seems a good bet with Derby visiting. Jagielka and Yobo make my team. Unfortunately Hibbert is a doubt, Baines - though he might even play at left mid - hasn't been starting, and Lescott is just too d@#& expensive. The last spot in the back line goes to Konch. Neal practically dared me into keeping him after last week's disappointment. But if I sold him, I'd just be picking around the points, right?
Between the pipes the choice was between Carson and Gordon. Both are 4.30 and have decent matchups. And Robbo is Scholes'd... dead to me for fantasy. Carson is home to Bolton and Gordon is @Fulham. So I'm going with Carson, and he gets the 'coveted' photo jinx, even though Villa have been playing terribly recently and he's scored in the red each of the last three weeks. Hope over experience. Always.
Defoe, Benchtner (for the cash he frees up), BFAReid, Jummy, and JCole round out the squad. JCole, Yak, and Arteta have two matches next week. Everton's sched is tough as their easier game is @ BRM, and Chelsea play on a really quick turn around after getting Wigan at the Bridge. Other options for the barn door would be Aston Villa @ Derby if Derby have given up (and Villa haven't). Otherwise it's a lot of strugglers v strugglers, mid-table no-hopers facing up to each other and ManU hosting Arsenal.
So with that in mind, who are you keeping an eye on this weekend? Let's talk about it in this, your matchday open thread.
