Wigan's Leighton Baines

Not sure about the line up this week.  Looking over it, it just seems to be a smorgasbord - some strange collection of two gamers who may or may not play, and cheap filler.

Kalou and Alves up top.  Alves - was last week a fluke or is he the genuine article.  Ballack, JCole, Barry (on the barn door for @Der), and Big Fats Frank and Andy.  Terry, Baines, and Sun - the enabler, in front of Hilario.

Thanks to all for the feedback on my QEMM - quien es muy macho? - post earlier.  I decided to go with Ballack and Kalou.  SWP and the Elk are now sure to post huge numbers this weekend.  Especially since Neal has the Elk in his lineup.  But without any other information I figure I'll go with the usual starters and hope they get the majority of the playing time and the points.

The one exception to this idea is Baines.  With all of Everton's midfield woes, I'm hoping that he gets a run on the left side of the midfield.  Always hoping.

What are you hoping for?  Who are you betting on?  And have you figured out how to afford Green and FASDA(shton) next week?   Let us know all about it in this, your matchday open thread.

  1. Noble has (had?) a hamstring injury. He was never better than 50/50 for the Bolton match. Hopefully he'll be back for Derby. If not, Parker is a bit cheaper - if not in charge of set pieces.

  6. Looks like my idea to stay away from everton and stick with all chelesa may of worked, although i have had fingers burnt before on a dbl weeker getting less than a single weeker in my league, cmon hil, ball, lamp, cole, ess, swp, kalou and the elk - oh not forgetting ben haim - really dont think he'll get a look in though ??

  7. quite happy with my team...gabby, torres, ashton, cron, barry, all scoring and carson's clean sheet gave me a healthy 98 points...now the only problem is i dont have any two gamers apart from ballack!!!!

  9. I swapped Gerrard for Lampard, just for the dbl weekends. SG just had 1G1A = 19.5 pts. Just hope that FLamp will have more productive week than SG, eg. 4 goals. :)

  10. @39 i inversed you on the barn door this week with lamps playing the two games this week and no games next week I swapped him for Gerrard @ful .
Ironically with all my "Andy Reid! Barn Door Him!" prophecies the door slammed shut on my fingers and I was too late to grab him @NUF.
So... 10 units to spend on a decent middie or 2 units to spend on Matejovsky and 8 to bump up my defence... and whom?

  11. Wondering about Benjani revenge game against 'arry.

I'm letting Torres go as well. Not because of CL. Most of the league had him for many weeks. Boring. I got Adebayor(I won't call him kaytwo) on the barn door. Love the Redding matchup.

  16. Anyone know why Lamps is not even on the bench for the Wigan match? I heard something about "unforeseen circumstances" just before kickoff, but couldn't get any details. Also, why is Carvalho not even on the bench? Rotation (in Carvalho's case)?

  18. Actually, I heard that Lamps' mother was taken very seriously ill just before kickoff and that's why Lampard pulled himself from the team, so that's one you probably can't stick on Avram, but it doesn't exonerate him from playing some of the other backup players in place of the regulars. Big mistake there, Mr. Grant.
