Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard is mourning the loss of his mother, Pat, casting doubt over his participation in the end-of-season run-in.
"Everybody at Chelsea Football Club is absolutely devastated to hear the tragic news of the passing away of Pat Lampard, Frank's mother," the club said on their website.
"Our sincerest and deepest condolences go out to Frank, his father Frank Snr, sisters Natalie and Claire and to their immediate family and friends.

Our deepest condolences from here at blog HQ. Reminds you that this - football, fantasy football especially - is just a game. A distraction at best. Get outside today and feel the sun on your face. Hug your kids. Call your mum just to say hello. We can worry about Arsenal's starting XI tomorrow.
My deepest condolences to Frank and his family...
hope chelsea can go on to win the champions league at least as a tribute to their most dedicated and influential player...
I feel terrible. I was upset that he suddenly withdrew for playing couple of weeks ago due to "family matters." What was I thinking? Football is meaningless when something like this happens.
Jeremy, just a couple of days ago, we were all caught up with our DG fantasy [FANTASY] and several players were upset with the Chelsea coach when Lampard did not play. Questioning Grant's lineup and Lampard, Terry and Drogba's loyalty to Chelsea. Lampard's loss is excruciatingly painful coupled with the pain he must have endured while reading the negative reports in the papers etc. You said it " Get outside and feel the sun etc." We should only question integrity when you know the truth. Deepest condolences to the Lampard family. Its just fantasy game off the pitch.
I may have strong opinions on Frank Lampard the player, but it seems a bit pointless when something like this happens. My condolences to Frank and his family.
