Chelsea Didier Drogba

So we say goodbye to the Premier League for another season.  We will likely say goodbye to the likes of Drogba, Campbell, Berbatov, Flamini.  And we will definitely be saying good bye to Derby County and two from Fulham, Reading and Birmingham.

The last weekend is always so tough to call.  The teams that need to play well are usually the ones who haven't done so all season.  So even though Reading travel to Derby, do you bet on them to break their 6 week scoreless run?  I am, with Lita and Shorey on the team.  However, I would guess this one to be a high-scoring affair and no telling who, if anyone, will come out on top.

Sunderland/Arsenal could be another goal fest.  But it could just as likely end up 0-0 or close to that.  So I've sold Theo and BFAReid for Gordon, thus ensuring a glut of scoring.

Chelsea/Bolton should see Chelsea win to nil, right?  I'm betting on Drogs, Terry, and Ferreira.  I was at Stamford Bridge in 2001 when Chelsea beat Bolton 5-1.  Here's hoping they can better that result this time around.

Alas, it probably will be for naught as ManU should take care of Wigan.  I wouln't bet on CRon coming away empty handed, but since that's been my downfall this season... well, I'll just hope Giggs can collect a souvenier goal or assist along with a winner's medal.

Rovers don't have much to play for, but Birmingham need to put it all on the line.  If results elsewhere aren't going their way they could fold... or they could push forward and leave themselves exposed at the back.  I'll run out JRob and BFDB and hope to exploit the situation.

No barn door.  No second chances.  This is it.   Calm before the storm now.  Come 7am tomorrow morning for me... a bit later today for many of you... it all happens.  Let's help each other through it in this, your final matchday open thread.

  3. Help! Still haven't decided whether i should change K2 (+7) for Drogba. I need a few goals from either one of them to climb to the top 5 in our private group. No pressure on Arsenal but that could mean they score a few and the youngsters may want to prove themselves, loads of pressure on Chelsea but can they against Bolton who have everything to play for? Advice anyone?

  6. Anyone fancy Forsell? (On the pitch, I mean!) A @#$% up between he and McBride for me. Forsell won. Fulham being on the road, and all... Plugged Davies into my midfield w/Bullard to get some "Fulham" in my lineup... Larsson... Hunt... (May regret not poaching Park or Giggs over Davies, but it's the final week, I lie second in my league. Far enough out of first to gamble a bit on the relegation trio). Really tossed on Kitson vs. Doyle, as well. Heart says Doyle. Head says Kitson (already have Lita). Kitson has bagged me points in the past, on short notice. Jeremy and Neal, you provide a lot of fun and some good writing to lots of people globally. Cheers to you both. (What club(s) do each of you support in the League?) Here's hoping Reading stay up.

  8. Can't decide between Carroll/Bendtner and Lita/Carson, any last minute wisdom? Is Carroll, and Derby, too much of a gamble? I am only 4 points behind 1st place in my group! Thanks.

  9. (8) I have Lita and Carson, but won't sell it as "advice". (For those watching Sky 1 live, nice to hear Weller/Jam "Town Called Malice" in the background at Vicarage Road. Fond memories! Could Hull be next year's Derby? Could Watford be next year's Derby a second time??)

  10. What happens to the players you have on + points at the end of the year? Do they carry over to next season or is everything reset? I have CRon at +10 and Petrov at +8 who have anchored my (almost successful) title bid! I also have Hutton at +6 who I was hoping to carry through to next year ... if that's possible ... ?

  11. can people stop saying blackburn have nothing to play for, they're going all out to overtake villa and get into the intertoto cup/europe, so in the most exciting game of the day neither team can take a draw!

  12. (11) You are right. A Pompey win and combo of losses by Rovers/Villa... puts them in the same spot. Fulham has a tough test on the road to avoid relegation - just as difficult as Birmingham, though they are at home. (Hull scores again! The Championship Leg 1 Open Thread!! Pretty neat that some of these Hull players may get to see play in all four leagues, if they move up. Loyalty may pay off.)

  13. I'm down 30 points to the leader. So my strategy was to minimize the same players that we had. But I wake up this morning to see that we share 3 players - Drogba, Tevez and Ballack. Now with the remaining 8 players, I need to beat his remaining 8 players with an average of 3.75 points. Not likely considering we share the big dogs. Oh well.

  21. I can't believe it. I have...had...a 30 point lead on my competition but it looks like he will win it because Harper (RED) and Murphy (BIR) score, along with an undeserved PK for Ronaldo. The lead, it's been the fondest of memories.
