So, we have yet another confirmed signing. As we did yesterday with Crouch and Sidwell, we're going to breakdown both the real and fantasy value of Samir Nasri at Arsenal (and for the purposes of this post, we'll assume that this means Hleb is now really on his way out to Barca or somewhere else)...
Real World Impact
According to all reports, Nasri is quite the versatile guy - able to play on either wing or "in the hole" behind the strikers. Given the current personnel at Arsenal, you have to figure that he'll primarily be slotted as a left winger until Rosicky proves himself fit. If 'sicky is fit, then he'll likely be competing with Walcott for a spot on the right wing. Assuming that Nasri doesn't take too long to adjust, you have to see this as an upgrade over Hleb. Not necessarily because Nasri is a better player but because Hleb was a central player being forced to play wide. Really, Hleb's skills overlap a great deal with Cesc's. Replacing him on the roster with someone comfortable being wide and crossing the ball as well as playing short, tight passes centrally will be an upgrade. Certainly, there is a chance that it will take a while for such a young player to take a step up in the level of competition so it would be best if Rosicky and Walcott were filling the wide roles when the season opens.
Fantasy Impact
Of course this depends on how much he plays but by all indications, the potential is there. Jeremy reports that Nasri had 6 goals, 11 assists, 25 SOTs, and no cards in 30 matches last season in France. If he gets the PT, that's some great potential even if he's only 75% as effective moving up a level in competition. If he's a guaranteed starter due to injuries (Rosicky, etc.) then he's +10 material when he's cheap. If he's part of a rotation, we'll you know how that goes. Stay tuned.
when will those new players added to the system..next week?
woooooo!
prob not arief..2 weeks..3?
I don't know. Players coming from the French league take a lot of time for me to warm up to. Cisse never produced for my Liverpool the way he was touted to. I don't know how much help he'll be to Arsenal. But we'll see...
On a separate note, can you post friendly scores and scorers if you hear about them? I heard carew scored on a Sidwell assist today in Villa's shock loss to 2nd division side lincoln. I also read that Sidwell hit the post.
im sure he will be good player for arsenal team. he will crate a good impact to the squad.
the major difference between him n hleb is that, he CAN score goals. unlike that @#$% who kissed barca's badge on the day of his signing. really what a joke. the expression of henry's face says it all.
