Fantasy Premier League

Jeremy Spitzberg & Neal Thurman

Catching up with the last week

Fri Jul 18 04:10PM

I've been out of town for a few days so I'm a bit out of the loop in regards to transfers, actual as well as all the baseless speculation. Focusing on the actual, let's see what's happened in my absence, shall we?

  1. Stoke close in on Kitson -- Great. So he can go from being a cheap but unreliable option on a terrible team to being... a cheap but unreliable option on a terrible team

  2. West Brom sign Carson -- Wasn't he being touted as a 9 million buy for Villa? What happened to his price tag? And what happened to Villa's interest? Oh....

  3. Friedel Wants Rovers Exit -- This was a bit of a shock until you get the bottom of the article. "Villa and City are both ready to double Friedel's wages and offer him a three-year contract, which would take him past his 40th birthday. " So there's the reason MO'N didn't want Carson any longer. He's in for Big Brad.

  4. Gilberto joins Panathinaikos -- So it's Diaby. Or Bischoff. Or Barry?!?!

  5. Jones Blow For Sunderland -- This is really troubling for Sunderland as KWynne was their one true out and out striker. Without him they lack a fulcrum for their attack and they'll have to spend to find someone new.

  6. Zaki arrives for Wigan medical -- An exciting signing for Wigan as Zaki has shown flashes on the international stage. We'll see if he can bring it in the Premier League. But surely a step up from Marlon King and Marcus Bent.

  7. Cahill crocked for start of season -- No surprise here, I guess. But good news for Everton that Arteta is fine, and so far sticking with the Toffees (sorry). But interesting that their fullbacks will need the kid glove treatment at the start of the season as Everton play all three promoted teams in the first five weeks of the season. Now THAT'S the kind of insight for which you come to blog!

  8. Hleb secures 'dream' Barca move -- Nasri +10

  9. Kapo Seals Latics Switch -- Neal covered this one here.

  10. Zamora and Pantsil join Fulham -- These too.

Pre-Season Matches

  1. Jo debuts as Hughes starts with win -- Don't forget that Jo will be away at the Olympics soon. But still an encouraging start.

  2. Friendlies: Bellamy on target -- I'm SO looking forward to the Bellamy WHU era. He and FASDA... remember how lethal Bellamy was alongside Shearer? Good times.

  7. One thing to add to the recap: SAF says its a minimum of 3 months till Cron comes back, not just one as previously reported. So we probably won't see him till week 8.

  8. So values have changed for some players but new signings aren't in the system yet? Jeremy and Neal, can't you guys use some of your Fantasy clout and get the fellas at Yahoo into high gear? Is it too early to be complaining? Any chance Kevin Phillips scores 30 for West Brom this year?
