Thanks to all who responded to my question (Gerrard/Niemi v. Downing/Reina as quick summary) -- and especially both of you who stuck to the topic!
sparta_prague2001 probably said it best:
Jeremy - I would prefer the Niemi-Gerrard combo if you must choose. Mainly because Liverpool hosting a horrid Watford team that leaks goals looks to be a choice match-up of the week. Gerrard seems to be hitting stride and should be central to all good attacking moves and hopefully generates a boat-load of points through goals, SOTs and some CW. As for the GK situation, I tend to believe that over a double week, there is little likelihood of any teams keeping 2 CSs. So, if you feel that Reina may concede somewhere in the 2 games, why not go for Niemi, who tends to also get more action ( = more saves) than Reina, and use the units to bolster in other areas.
You're probably right. reina is ripe for a 1 shot, 1 goal allowed kind of day. and my picking him would certainly ensure it. so gerrard/niemi it is.
Now, what do the rest of you selfish and self-obsessed fantasy managers (but aren't we all) think of kuyt/ martins/ berbatov/ todorov/ dickov/ shevchecko/ kirelenko/ davis/ davies/ mcbride/ mccullough/ mccarthy/ van der persie?
I've only got 10 spots to fill, because you know I got Seol!
Happy holidays everyone! May all your teams challenge for Champions League places and all your players be blog favorites.
and a merry christmas to you too fella, and gl with ur choices!
