Essien out for "several months"

Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien is to undergo surgery on a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament that will rule him out for "several months".

An examination by club medics revealed the extent of the damage, which can keep players out of action for up to a year.

Essien suffered the injury while on international duty with Ghana last week, and is now scheduled for surgery.

A statement on Chelsea's official website read: "Michael Essien suffered a knee injury playing for Ghana on Friday.

"He has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and will undergo an operation as soon as the majority of the swelling has subsided. We expect this to happen in a week's time.

"In the meantime Michael has started rehab in the aqua therapy centre at Cobham which will improve the condition of the knee prior to surgery. A return to full fitness is not expected for several months."

It sounds as if Obi Mikel is going to be fit to return to the team.  If not, perhaps we'll see Scolari keep Belletti as the holding middie.  That worked out pretty well, though his goal against Spurs was a fluke.  Might be worth looking into, though near 15 is a high price to pay for any player this season.  However, I guess a lot of those premium guys are out - Gerrard and Torres come to mind - so maybe you have money to burn.

  3. Re 2 - it seems to have changed - unbelievably for the better! I hope it stays like this - you can now make several selections in different drop down lists and then click the OK button at the right of the lists. So you can change several things in one go now without it doing a selection each time. If I'm right, all you're missing is the click on OK.

  5. All the forums are full of "where is Robinho" first of all, he isnt on FOR EVERYBODY, we are all equal, secondly, would youn pick him against Chelsea? move on from Robinho and choose a team without him, if he gets added before lockdown then add him if you want, think of it as a bonus.
