Injury Report: Gameweek One

Tue Aug 04 03:54PM

With a pineapple on his head Time to check out the walking wounded ahead of the opening weekend of the 2009/10 Fantasy Premier League game.

We will update the injury report every week and give you the lowdown on what it all means for your team. Here are some of the main storylines as the season approaches.

Samir Nasri's broken leg means a place in the Arsenal first team is there for Tomas Rosicky's (7.27) taking, with Jack Wilshere (5.56) waiting in the wings.

The absence of Stewart Downing and possibly Stiliyan Petrov from Aston Villa's team could mean an early taste of the action for Fabian Delph (not yet in game), who will join the Villans shortly.

Everton have injuries all over the park. Expect Jack Rodwell (3.57) and Dan Gosling (7.42) to find their way into David Moyes's side.

Emilio Insua (8.63) finds himself as Liverpool's left-back by default following Fabio Aurelio's injury, with Andrea Dossena likely to move on.

Sit tight, Carlos Tevez (9.48) fans. Your man's heel injury may yet subside. If it does not, Mark Hughes has no shortage of replacements at his disposal.

Tottenham could start the season without their first three choices at centre-back. Vedran Corluka (8.86) and Tom Huddlestone (6.10, but listed as a midfielder) have filled in during pre-season. If Sebastien Bassong signs (not yet in game), he could be a shrewd acquisition for Fantasy bosses.

Here is the current list of Premier League injuries. We'll keep you posted as the countdown continues.

  9. Really handy report, thanks guys. I'm still hoping for some more defensive signings to arrive, hopefully at under 6.00, as injuries have really left us short of options for Week 1. I thought I had a settled defence but have since found out Hreidarsson is injured & there is confusion about exactly who'll start for Stoke too. 23. Hey guys if you want a good defense player, Everton just bought Phillipe Senderos. Should be a good bargain just at 6^. Just a sujestion, and by the way, I probably shouldn't be telling anyone but maybe he's not even gonna play anyway.

  28. I don't see van der Sar on the list. He is out for 8 weeks with 2 broken fingers after blocking that penalty against Bayern Munich last week. By the way, he's not on the physioroom list either.

  29. The surgery to Van Der Sar was only announced last night, before this article was written. Also, PhysioRoom was last updated on Monday, so again they wouldn't have known about the injury until yesterday. It opens up Foster as a great choice now, provided Fergie doesn't spring a huge surprise & go with Kuszczak! btw if you get a chance, please visit my own Yahoo Fantasy Football Blog: yahoofantasyfootballuk.blogspot.com
