... the damned and their last refuge:
Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder hopes Kieron Dyer can finally end his injury nightmare and help prevent the Magpies' season sliding deeper into crisis.
Dyer is set for his second training game at the club's Benton Park complex on Tuesday night - and could receive the all-clear to make his Premiership comeback next Saturday.
The 27-year-old has not figured in the first team since the derby win over Sunderland last April and has endured the majority of two seasons on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
But Dyer's projected return could not come at a more critical time with Sunday's defeat at Middlesbrough dumping the Magpies to 16th place and increasing the pressure on Roeder.
Roeder said: "Kieron will have another 90 minutes on Tuesday and I would have thought that if he comes through it he will be in the frame for the Charlton game."

I like NUF vs CHA matchup. I believe this is going to be Martins' day. That being said, if Dyer is fit & playing, i'll probably give him a go.

They've got Emre and Parker in the middle and I wonder whether Dyer will replace Emre? Left's out coz they've got Duff, which probably leaves the right wing. Despite the temptations, I always dislike picking players from teams which do not have good managers, as more often than not, players tend to have less changes on goal and risk getting thrashed.

Watch the Carling Cup on Wednesday as Rossi is getting his first start against Portsmouth...if he bags a couple, don't be shocked to see him up front on Saturday. What odds on Parker scoring against his one of his old clubs after his 35 yard screamer at the Valley...
