The Fantasist

Fantasy Europe Cup: update

Tue Oct 20 10:23AM

Matchday three is here, and it's time for a Fantasy Europe Cup update.

The Fantasist presently lies in 2,947th place overall after a decent first two weeks.

Its skipper Luis Fabiano is the third-highest scorer in the game, with 41 points, while there have also been useful contributions from Daniel Alves (30 pts) and Hans-Jorg Butt (29 pts).

Others have been less effective, but this is no time to press the panic button. In any case, the limited transfers and squad system make it harder to enact wholesale changes.

Each matchday you are allowed one transfer, and The Fantasist has done a bit of tinkering.

Maccabi Haifa's Yaniv Katan for Milan perma-sub Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, but the Israeli does not start as Maccabi have a tough match at Juventus.

The formation has been switched from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 to accommodate Alexander Hleb in place of injured Juventus skipper Alessandro Del Piero - but Del Piero stays in the squad for now.

And the captain's armband has passed from Luis Fabiano to Alberto Gilardino - the Fiorentina striker is bang in form and should do well away to Debrecen.

  1. Guys, forget about eurosport's CL fantasy game. Go to uefa.com - the fantasy is million times better.

  3. There is something wrong with the European game. The points don't update. You can't see how your players did each day. It's a total mess.

  6. i am doing the uefa champions league fantasy and i like it better than the yahoo. i have been for 10 or more years. i tried the yahoo one two years ago and their were too many glitches. my team kept going back to my first team that i had saved, even though i had made many transfers. i like the idea of getting phantom points, but it seemed arbitrary. i don't like the uefa one as well because it is a little bit more about shutouts and goals and assists. i have won my private league every year but one, though.
