Fantasy Premier League

The Fantasist

Tactical review: Stan the man

Mon Nov 30 04:08PM

Time for Monday's regular trawl through The Fantasist's weekend 'Choose 'em or Lose 'em?' selections.

All in all, it was a weird weekend in the Premier League, but a decent bunch of predictions. A couple of big calls (Wayne Rooney and Junior Stanislas) came off nicely, but Manchester City's never-ending capacity to disappoint came back to bite us in the backside.

In goal, The Fantasist scored two out of three, with big clean sheets for the staggeringly cheap Paul Robinson (16 points) and Chris Kirkland (10 pts), although Wolves' Wayne Hennessey was dropped after his stinker at Chelsea last week.

We were right to warn you off Hull goalkeepers, but Thomas Sorensen (13 pts) again scored heavily - although he is now mightily expensive - 13.08.

Main defensive 'Choose 'em' Wayne Bridge (7 pts) missed his clean sheet but nearly matched his value, while Chris Baird (4.5 pts) and Richard Stearman (2.5 pts) were lacklustre.

The Fantasist was right to warn that Bolton wouldn't keep a clean sheet, but once again Gary Cahill (11.5 pts) scored handsomely. His mum must keep score in this game. Jamie Carragher (10.5 pts) finally found a bit of form but Armand Traore (-1 pts) was predictably tragic. One for next week.

Into midfield, where the top tip of Junior Stanislas (24 pts) was a triumph, and Marouane Fellaini (12 pts) did pretty well considering his team drew a blank. Jordan Henderson (5.5 pts) quietly outscored his value, but Stephen Ireland (3.5 pts) was a dud and Alberto Aquilani - inexplicably - was an unused sub. Maybe next week.

As for the Lose 'ems, The Fantasist would rather immodestly like to credit itself with some great calls - Florent Malouda (1 pt), Aaron Lennon (4 pts) and Cesc Fabregas (4 pts) all failed to live up to their billing.

Up front, the Choose 'ems were single-handedly saved by hat-trick hero Wayne Rooney (33.5 pts). Emmanuel Adebayor (a useless zero points), Kevin Doyle (0.5 pts) and David Ngog (2 pts) were all pathetic. Thank goodness you had Didier Drogba (26.5 pts). Didn't you?

And again, The Fantasist nailed some big Lose 'em calls - notably the red hot Jermain Defoe (4 pts), who has lost about nine million in value. Darren Bent (2.5 pts) and Dimitar Berbatov (0 pts) also underperformed.

Other things we learned this weekend:

- Don't ever go near a Burnley defender away from home.

- You don't have to play well to score a hat-trick if you're Wayne Rooney.

- Always keep faith in the Drog.

 - Wigan's inconsistency means they can be good as well as bad.

- Edwin van der Sar's unexpected afternoon off is another reason to stick to cheapo goalkeepers.

- Stay away from Emmanuel Adebayor until he stop impersonating last year's version of himself.

  7. You can stick History up your arse Jack.Macan. Man utd and Liverpool are both inferior to Chelsea. You can smile at the memories of when you used to be good, but I can cheer my team winning every week!

  13. Recently, I came across an age-gap site called __Agegapmingle @ com__ It's a nice- place- for Younger Women-Older Men, or Older Women-Younger Men to interact with each other. Age gap is not problem there. You may check out or tell your friends.
