Sven seeking more attack on travels

Manchester City's Elano (L) celebrates with Emile Mpenza after scoring his sides third goal during their English Premier League soccer match against Newcastle United in Manchester, northern England, September 29, 2007.

Sven-Goran Eriksson has told his Manchester City players they have to be more daring when they play away from home.Eriksson held a squad meeting yesterday where he pointed out that City had managed just one single attempt on target during the 1-1 draw at Wigan - and that was their first-minute goal...

"Hopefully, there will be a response at White Hart Lane. It has nothing to do with the tactics because we are playing the same way away as we do at home and we have done well, very well, at home...

City are likely to still be missing their gifted Brazilian playmaker Elano against Spurs but Darius Vassell, Emile Mpenza and midfielder Michael Johnson are back in training and should be available.

Eriksson added: "We must wait another couple of days to see if Elano will make it or not.

"He has not trained with us this week and has a problem with his hamstring. I expect he will have another scan tomorrow or Friday and we will see how we go from there.

"If you look at all the goals this season then you must say that Elano is important to us. Between him and Petrov they have probably been involved in 80-85% of the goals we have scored.

"But we have a lot of other good players and we cannot afford to stand or fall by whether Elano is there."

Johnson is likely to come in for Dietmar Hamann, who is suspended after reaching five bookings for the season.

  1. to hold or not to hold Elano, that is the question. At 6.xx, he doesn't take up much of my budget, but two weeks in a row with only 10 players can't be good.

  2. I agree! unfortunately I had to remove Elano from my team. Can't be carrying dead weight. I just hope his price drops a couple of more $ while he is out.

Also, if you guys haven't heard Drogba is out. He injured a knee.
