Cacapa closing in on Magpies return

Newcastle defender Claudio Cacapa could get a chance to restore his reputation this weekend as he prepares for his comeback from injury.The 31-year-old Brazilian has not played for the Magpies since producing a nightmare performance in last month's 4-1 home defeat home defeat to Portsmouth. 

Cacapa was culpable on two occasions as rampant Pompey raced into a 3-0 lead inside 11 minutes and he promptly headed down the tunnel after being replaced by David Rozehnal just six minutes later.

Sam Allardyce later revealed the defender had been suffering from a hamstring injury, which has sidelined him ever since.

However, he is expected to play in a behind-closed-doors friendly against a Hartlepool XI on Thursday - when Abdoulaye Faye and Damien Duff will also step up their fights for match fitness - and could yet make Saturday's Premier League trip to Fulham.

This photo is the last anyone has seen of Cacapa, but now everyone is lining up for the cake walk.  Cacapa is 6.48, Rozehnal is 5.64, and Faye is a 3.46 middie.  But good luck guessing who plays @FUL.

    If Cacapa plays, Fulham will score goals ! Capaca (ex Lyon), Rozehnal (ex PSG) and Beye (ex Olympique Marseille) were considered as 3 of the worst defenders last year in the French league. Unbelievable as it may seem, they all play for Newcastle this year...

    in seasons past, Given compensated for the @#$%iness of the Newcastle defense, but he does not seem like the same shot stopper that he has been for the last 3 years.

    WHY this warrants an article? I think I'd rather take Black Cats D over NUFC D. I feel sorry for anyone who uses this article for their team. why not bigger news?! RvP is BACK!!!!
