Van Persie's Chelsea hope

[Robin van Persie] featured for over an hour in the 2-1 Champions League win over Steaua Bucharest on Wednesday night and thinks he is ready for a return.

But Wenger is unsure as to whether he should use the former Feyenoord striker in the crucial Premier League match against Chelsea this coming weekend, and the player agrees that he perhaps cannot last the full 90 minutes.

"I am fit if the boss picks me. I am available," Van Persie insisted. "However, I am not 100% percent yet. You need games. You need rhythm.

"I can easily make 60-65 minutes, but after two months out you cannot make 90 minutes."

"Footballistically there was no problem for him," Wenger told the club website of the win in midweek, before admitting that he is reluctant to take a risk with other key players in similar situations.

"Van Persie is ready physically. But we have some other players who are injured like [Cesc] Fabregas, like [Alexander] Hleb and [Mathieu] Flamini. Though I will certainly have to take a gamble on one or two, can I take a gamble on three or four? That would be a very risky so I'll have to assess the situation in the next three or four days."

I would guess RvP makes the bench against CHE and sees some time at the end of the match if ARS need a goal.  You probably don't want to spend 17.47 on that, but he's one to watch for the Barn Door.

    i like that word! footballistically - this will earn like more than 200 points in scrabble! haha save the money for this weekend, not going to bet on the big match (except ronaldo). but at the rate the players' cost, it's hard to get 4 top players in your team! (unless you got it for cheap) .. and yes, yahoo .. please do some normalisation on the cost vis-a-vis points earned /week ...

    agree with RvP for Barn Door because, other than CRon (at +4.02 I can't afford to save any money by selling him) I am avoiding Super Sunday players so I can just watch the matches without also worrying about everyone else in my league
