Newcastle United's Obafemi Martins

So that was fun.  Basically spent the day paralyzed by indecision.  Cesc, Martins, CJerome, Torres, Adam Johnson... ???  What to do?  Whom to pick?  Match-ups.  Rotation.  Form.  Argh!

So after reviewing the rules I decided that the final tie-breaker was the ever-popular "Pick whomever is playing Derby and/or Wigan."  So good luck Torres and Martins!  Best seasonal wishes to the festively named Eliot Omozusi.  Here's hoping that Cesc doesn't make me regret dropping him off the barn door. Though you and I both know that he will.

Happy holidays to all, and consider this your matchday open thread.

  1. Benjani, Carew, Diouf, Anelka? All tempting!

  5. Lucky week for me. Wanted RVP but dropped him for Obafemi instead because of Newcastle's easy matches. And then used the extra money to buy Cesc!

  6. Loving the barn door...at half time I picked up Anelka and Benjani for next week, now their values are sure to go through the roof after second half goals. That goodness for Gerrard setting up Torres, I thought that combo was backfiring versus the Cesc and Martins combo I'd debated using...

  13. I've gotten spoiled with a dirt cheap guy like Given... Friedel looks good... Now any extra cheap defenders? I had been a Mok guy until this week but I'm doubting whether Hughes will start him this week (maybe it's a good think if Mok rides the bench)

  14. No one wants to bet on Bolton. But lately, they've been okay and improving. And while I think Friedel is definitely the better keeper, he has been losing folks a lot of points lately. Serious negatives. And Blackburn do give away a lot of PKs. Just saying...

  21. Pienaar is looking lively - he's probably getting more time on the ball due to Arteta's absence but he's been involved in just about everything good that has happened for Everton so far. Might be worth a look for next week at 7.16 despite the match-ups only being so-so (ARS, @MID)...

Hate games decided by a PK. Poor Tim Howard. He's been so good. Flippin' CRon, shame such a player is such an arse.

  30. Bummer about Pienaar - Everton played well although it felt a little inevitable - ManYoo just kept coming and coming. Not many clubs that can keep out Rooney, Tevez, CRon, and Giggs out when they're playing like that.

At the same time, NUFC screwed by the ref who should have called a penalty on Mears (fouling Alan Smith who appeared to be trying a bicycle kick in the box - not sure what is the most surprising thing in that last sentence).
