Blackburn Rovers' Roque Santa Cruz celebrates scoring to make it 3-3

Put down those leftovers, and stop dripping pudding on your keyboard.  We've got games to watch!  Here's hoping Santa brought you a striker that won't be rotated, a middie who pushes into the attack, and a defender who avoids a yellow card.

Good luck, and condiser this your matchday open thread.

  10. I'm picking robinson for next weeks double header--bad choice? I'm liking spurs resurgence with ramos, and I think a couple of clean sheets are in the cards.
Also, with carvalho suspended, will ben-haim finally make some starts?

  12. points are updating... SAF said EvDS "out 2 or 3 games" counting today but he may just be being coy. Friedel not a bad pick I think, just wanting to err on the side of caution and points in hand

  13. Alright. Half way through the midweek matches. The big question has been half answered. The big question, of course, was would a CHE team without Terry, Drog, Cech, etc., find some guys to step up (Shev come out of retirement, SWP to do two things consecutively correctly, defense to, well, play defense, etc.) or would it be a mess like the other non-Terry/Cech weeks. In the end, Shev stepped up. I'm not sold on this long-term, but at the $10 price he was during the game, he's probably worth the gamble next week. $13 seems a bit much. Cech also played, but not well. This means people bargain hunting Hilario have some serious thinking to do.

  14. ...for the dude considering Ballack, good luck with that. Yeah, played. Got forward, etc. Also a good argument for sending him off after the elbow ten minutes in. And the fact Ballack wasn't sent off means he's due in the next match. Speaking of sending offs, I hopped on the Ben Haim bandwagon this week which was clearly too soon. While I am on to Simpson in that slot, I can't see how B-H won't play next week. On the other hand (and the other half of the big CHE question), it has been comprehensively reconfirmed that the CHE defense without Terry is rubbish which is a round'about way of explaining why I am sticking with Simpson at the moment. mmm, donuts.

  17. I went with bentley. This is basically because as I was buying Cesc on Saturday morning, his price jumped mid-transaction. Doh. But given BFDB's matchup next week, I am not too worried. It is the rest of the season thereafter where Cesc is too expensive I am worried about.

  18. I also added Reid on Saturday (swapped out Convey) as well as Kewell. Kewell didn't play today (not even bench) so he's be moved along and reid will stick around until after the bburn match when, hopefully, we have a better sense of what's what. Kewell became McC, but again, I am waiting on the next match before committing to that. RSC would be the best choice given current form, but I don't have the money to match his new price.

  22. No RvP again! Would could have been a great week is turning out to be an average one. If only they had the type of disclosure about their athletes like they do here in the States. Obviously, the press in the UK(and probably the rest of Europe for that matter) don't make much of an effort.

  23. I vote bentley over anelka. you'll sleep better. bentley gets points every game. bburn could lose both games 3-0 and bentley will still do ok. Anelka is feast or famine with famine being the more common scenario. Plus the current Bolton is half the Bolton of last season and it was the Bolton of last season that did zilch during the Great Bolton Cakewalk. Could anelka do well? Sure. But I tend to put my money on the more consistent option.

  24. Is someone honestly complaining about having Torres, Tevez, cron and cesc? :) I wish I had your nightmares. I have the first three and I am keeping them. I tried to buy Cesc but the price changed quicker than expected. Otherwise I'd have all four and be quite contented. Yeah, it would be nice to load up on Bburn this week, but long term you have top players at a huge discount. After this week Ars has Birm, Manyoo plays NUFC and Pool vs Boro so that's a wash. Then its Fulham, Reading and Villa respectively. In short, I'd keep them for now and pick up a couple of the cheaper bburn guys by finding deals on the keeper or defenders.
