The Barn Door Watch

Sat Jan 19 02:23PM by Neal Thurman

It would appear that the new guys that were confirmed late in the week didn't make it into the system (e.g., Murphy, Ivanovic) so we may all miss out on them at rock bottom prices but obviously you'll want to check in on them frequently for next week (unless one or more have spectacular matches, they shouldn't be TOO expensive).

As far as schedules go for next week...Derby and Citeh don't appear to have matches scheduled so everyone who jumped on the MPet bandwagon this weekend will be looking for a replacement...Might I suggest Jimmy Bullard who will re-announce himself to the Premier League audience with a strong performance against Bolton at the Reebok...Arsenal host NUFC who are not likely to discover defending football under Kevin Keegan so EdS remains a strong option...Birmingham travel to Wigan with a chance to show off their new players in a two week period that is likely to determine their survival (@Sunderland this week and home to Derby the next).  Bet on six points for the Blues and at least a goal and an assist for McFadden over that stretch and one clean sheet for Murphy.

ManYoo and Chelsea are both home next weekend to sub-par competiton in the form of a weakened Pompey and Reading respectively.  There aren't many bargains at ManYoo but between Carvalho, Ivanovic, and the wingers there is plenty to choose from at the Bridge - make sure you continue to watch them.

Finally, Everton host still-pourous Spurs in what should be a strong day for the Toffees attack.  Think about making the move to AJ and watch Everton's line-up to see if Fernandes starts this weekend.  If both are healthy and starting, they represent good value next weekend.

So here's an interesting barn door question -- do you sell KRich before we know the full extent of his hammy injury?

RE 3: Jeremy, I just asked the same question (albeit phrased slightly differently) on the Matchday Open Thread. Serious conundrum with the two barndoor heavy discounts of late (folks having him at under 4 and under 7). My first instinct is to drop him, but then I realize that I'm not going to get much more elsewhere for the meager cash.

Yahoo thinks Derby and Citeh play, but there's nothing on the schedule.

Sicky, Cahill, Elano, Kapo, Ireland all worth peeping for next. Just never sure about the last three starting. Was really hoping Faddy would start and/or score today and make some decisions easier on us.

I'm confused about your saying Derby v Mac don't play next match week because its scheduled for the 30th, with a bunch of other matches: http://www.premierleague.com/page/FixturesResults/0,,12306,00.html

The big issue for the next fantasy week is that the Aston Villa v. Blackburn match has been moved up to Saturday, Jan. 26th.....This is now the only Saturday match scheduled. All other EPL matches are scheduled to be played on either Tuesday, January 29 or Wednesday, January 30......The problem: Yahoo has made the lock down for Fantasy Week 21 @ Jan 29 12:00pm GMT......How will this effect the Villa match?
