Bardsley joins Sunderland

Tue Jan 22 06:24PM by Jeremy

Sunderland sign right back Phil Bardsley from Manchester United for £2 million.

 ---

Sunderland are now officially a ManYoo reserve side.  But that being said, Bards did well for Villa and for fantasy managers last season.  However, 6.37 may be a bit much for a Sunderland defender.

Slim pickins in the transfer market this year. I suppose that Bardsley +5 is too much to expect out of him considering he is with Sunderland. It looks like it might be more difficult with no quality defenders joining any top flight team...which leads me to ask,...will Ivanovic be a consistant starter? If so, who will be relegated to the bench?

yeah, I don't trust any of the new defensive signings enough to pick them. are they really THAT good? I know Bardsley did very well last year, and I know he won't any many (if any) CS for Sunderland, BUT, a good player playing on a @#$%py team, means he'll bust out a few more chances up front to score? is that the trade off? I'd look towards Spurs new signing - Ezequiel Garay who's having a difficult year, but last year had 10 goals! for a D man!

Hopefully this DOES mean a few more CS for Sunderland. With Nosworthy, Evans, Bardsley, and Higginbotham/Halford/anyone but McShane on the back line, Sunderland may be able to stop conceeding goals galore.

So Bardsley or Evans? which one will be better? I wish there was a rankings list of top transfers and how they will contribute to their new teams. though, one day, fantasy footy is just starting to come into a world of its own.

Sunderland just spent 2 MIL for Swedish Int. striker Rade Prica. Led Danish Superligaen in scoring last year. Had 28 goals in 48 goals for AaB (consistent Euro qualifier), and 2 goals in 4 matches for Sweden. Reminds me a little US Int'l Eric "Jim Rome can $&@# my @*&%" Wynalda (who could be more of a threat from 30 yards than 2 yards on occasion)

typo above: Prica had 2 goals in 14 int'l matches for Sweden
