Fantasy Premier League

Monday Morning Manager

Mon Jan 28 04:15PM by Jeremy

The Manager doesn't know whether to cry or wind his watch.

Just one match in the books so far and the rest to come tomorrow and Wednesday.  But there has been so much football, and so much transfer speculation... so much sound and fury.   But what does it signify?

What does it mean that Citeh were taken apart by Sheffield United?  It is certainly unsettling that for the n-th game running they looked horrible in possession.  Seemingly all teams have to do is man-mark Elano and shift the defence over to pay attention to Petrov on the left.  SGE tried to overcome that by moving MPet to the right in the second half, but it didn't seem like anyone else was aware of that.  He just never saw the ball even when he was in acres of space.  And Citeh just had too few chances in attack.  And those they did have were snuffed out by good defending or just wasted.

Having lost Richards in the back they were seemingly suceptible to pace and were cut apart on several occassions by the Blades' counter attack (get it?  "cut apart".  "Blades".).  I'm not sure that Derby have the players, other than perhaps Barnes, to get after Citeh with pace but it made for nervous viewing for fantasy managers like myself with Citeh players in the lineup.

Forgive the abbreviated post today.  However, the next few days are sure to be something as everything comes to a head.  The remaining league matches tomorrow and Wednesday with all their usual drama on top of a host of new players making their debuts and surely a flood of even more players coming and going within and without the Premier League.  We'll surely have the match day open threads ready and look forward to sharing the fun with all of you.

Until next week,

The Manager

For Richards to ask for 70,000 per week is just insane, City will not break their salary cap for him, he will have to do with 50,000/per week or find another team, man utd will take him just to rub salt into city wounds!!!!!!!!! Come on you reds!!!!!
