Blog Favorites for England

Fabio Capello is set to drop Michael Owen from his starting line-up for the friendly against Switzerland at Wembley.

Capello has not officially settled on his XI and will inform the players of his decision this afternoon, but Owen has been a peripheral figure in training, with the Italian preferring to deploy Wayne Rooney as a lone striker.

David Bentley and Ashley Young will both start for the first time, supporting the Manchester United man from the right and left flanks respectively.

BF's DB and AY.  The future of English football is now its present.  And having been on these guy's bandwagons for a few years now, we couldn't be happier  Even if we were English ourselves.  We are like two proud papas this morning.

I know Neal is a yank (which explains a few things!) but what nationality is Jeremy if he's not English?

I'm curious what my American-ness explains (and worry not, I am not now or will I be offended by either joking or serious responses). I'll be equally curious to know if Jeremy has managed to transcend his own Yank-ness to avoid whatever pitfalls I've obviously fallen into...or does he just do a better job of remembering to spell/use words in English-English as opposed to American-English?

years of dedicated BBCAmerica viewing (and before that PBS) have washed away the stain of my backwoods upbringing. of course that means i can't look at jummy bullard without seeing charlie dimmock. but that's a more personal issue than i think i'm comfortable talking about here.

You guys should try producing a podcast. Maybe you could eventually take over for those two windbags on FSC?

Was only joking about the explaining a few things. I like America and most yanks, although there are exceptions such as Dubya, Michael Jackson and a few others. I went to the west coast last Easter and had a great time, although I thought our TV was bad until I saw yours.

Neal/Jeremy - When I am surfing your website and reading one of your articles or the lovely user comments that follow, is there a link that I could click that would take me back to the home page of your blog? I don't see one, and it could be that I am blind or it could be that there isn't one. TIA.

Jeremy, by "washing away the stains of your backwoods upbringing," does that mean you talk with a horrible English ascent ala Brad Friedel?

    (7) I'm not sure there is a link to get back to the blog "home page" - I generally just use the back button or navigate to specific articles using the list of "recent articles"... Not ideal, but as you might imagine not ours to design (and the official Yahoo UK team that works on these things have indicated that they are working on the user experience of the game and the blog in the future so we have our fingers crossed).
