Catching up on a few things...
K2, Daryl Murphy, Wilson Palacios, Gretar Steinsson -- the fantasy premier league players of the (calendar) year so far. Each has been productive for their price and amazingly consistent over the last month
Sunderland needed a saving tackle from Whitehead, a post, and an amazing save from Gordon to keep out Wigan. Just saying as Wigan host Derby and Sunderland travel to Pompey.
Drogba, Muntari, Eboue, Utaka, Martins.
Bojinov scored in a reserve match, albeit against Newcastle. He's now aiming for March 16 return against Spurs. Probabaly just an option off the bench if the Benjani era at Citeh continues apace.
Arbeloa up a 1.38 this weekend having not played in three weeks. So much for finding a cheap LIV defender for their two match week. That being said, Torres and Gerrard are going to cost you 35 so you're probably just more thankful that Mokoena is back under 2.
If I continue to trail in the standings, when do I sell CRon?
And now for your favorite recurring feature...
Session Start (Jeremy Spitzberg:Neal Thurman): Mon Feb 11 07:45:53 2008
07:45] Jeremy Spitzberg: Mark Hughes is most likely to partner Zhurab Khizanishvili and Aaron Mokoena at centre-back, although Bruno Berner is also available.
[07:46] Neal Thurman: uh oh
[07:46] Neal Thurman: might be the weekend that Moko comes back to haunt me - that has to ahve YC written all over it
[07:46] Jeremy Spitzberg: i'm quietly optimistic
[07:47] Jeremy Spitzberg: looking forward to him being a sub-$2 player again ;-)
[07:47] Neal Thurman: lol
[07:48] Neal Thurman: any big BD moves over the weekend?
[07:48] Jeremy Spitzberg: of course;-)
[07:49] Neal Thurman: lol
[07:49] Jeremy Spitzberg: berbs/lennon/mf/pamarot
[07:49] Jeremy Spitzberg: to
[07:49] Jeremy Spitzberg: benjani/palacios/koumas/mtay
[07:50] Jeremy Spitzberg: u?
[07:51] Neal Thurman: I'm at Defoe, Baros, Carew, CRon, BFDB, MPet, Jummy, Skrtel, Hutton, Moko, and the Captn
[07:52] Neal Thurman: you're figuring that Mtay will actually hit the back of the net after missing a PK and a sitter over the last two matches?
[07:52] Jeremy Spitzberg: defoe, benjani, tevez, cron, palacios, koumas, jummy, huth, mtay, sagna, gordon
[07:52] Jeremy Spitzberg: not sure about mtay keeping his spot in the team
[07:52] Jeremy Spitzberg: will try to move him to rtay if he isn't injured
[07:52] Jeremy Spitzberg: or recovers in time, i should say
[07:52] Neal Thurman: fair enough
[07:53] Jeremy Spitzberg: in which case, koumas gets the gut
[07:53] Jeremy Spitzberg: but koumas needed barn dooring
[07:53] Neal Thurman: amazing that Koumas can't keep a place in the line-up for a bad team like Wigan - he must be either a real ass or a huge defensive liability
[07:54] Jeremy Spitzberg: and not only that, but they are playing a right sided defender on the left wing in his place
[07:54] Jeremy Spitzberg: imagine evra being selected over cron
[07:54] Neal Thurman: although, you can't really argue with Taylor's results
[07:54] Neal Thurman: the normal CRon or yesterday's version?
[07:55] Neal Thurman: did you see the quote about CRon?
[07:55] Jeremy Spitzberg: 2 weeks in a row he's been off
[07:55] Jeremy Spitzberg: no
[07:55] Neal Thurman: Apparently no one told him that you only had to be quiet for 60 seconds ;-)
[07:55] Jeremy Spitzberg: ?
[07:56] Neal Thurman: moment of silence for Busby's Babes before the match :-)
[07:57] Neal Thurman: much discussed because there was worry that the Citeh fans wouldn't stay quiet
[07:57] Jeremy Spitzberg: oh
[07:57] Jeremy Spitzberg: got it
[07:57] Jeremy Spitzberg: everyone ignored the 2nd half of petrov's "we're going to lose to manu...
[07:57] Jeremy Spitzberg: ... if we don't get it together" comment
[07:58] Neal Thurman: btw, that guy is really good - I think I have to write something about him being the best off-season acquisition (Torres has been much talked-about but ultimately, Liverpool aren't any better off with Torres than they were without him)
[07:59] Neal Thurman: MPet was far and away the best player out there yesterday (in both matches)
[07:59] Jeremy Spitzberg: i wish he were more studly when on my fantasy team
[08:00] Jeremy Spitzberg: but no real arguement
[08:00] Jeremy Spitzberg: argument
[08:00] Neal Thurman: The non-"Big Four" all-star team is getting to be pretty good
[08:00] Neal Thurman: Mpet, BFDB, BFAY, and Muntari as a midfield quartet?
[08:01] Neal Thurman: or maybe Diarra after his weekend :-)
[08:01] Jeremy Spitzberg: with Mok at center back
[08:02] Neal Thurman: lets hope :-)
[10:06] Jeremy Spitzberg: reading in the relegation zone
[10:07] Jeremy Spitzberg: albeit below brm by only goal diff, and wig by a pt
[10:07] Jeremy Spitzberg: didn't realize it was that bad for them
[10:07] Jeremy Spitzberg: but it's a 10 goal diff
[10:07] Jeremy Spitzberg: ha!
[10:58] Jeremy Spitzberg: wow. time to sell huth
[10:58] Jeremy Spitzberg: and not to pick up alves
[10:58] Neal Thurman: ?
[10:58] Jeremy Spitzberg: @liv, red (maybe get them here), @ast, @ars, der (and again here), @che, man, @spurs
[10:58] Neal Thurman: boro have a tough run of matches?
[10:58] Neal Thurman: not good times on Teesside
[10:59] Jeremy Spitzberg: they're glad they got a few pts in Feb
[10:59] Jeremy Spitzberg: 1-0 over wig and fulham huge!
[10:59] Jeremy Spitzberg: alidiere the hero
[10:59] Neal Thurman: probably saved their season
[10:59] Neal Thurman: who'd have thunk it?
[11:00] Jeremy Spitzberg: worth the what, 4 mil, just for those 2 goals
[11:01] Jeremy Spitzberg: though the -0 as, if not more important that the 1
[11:05] Jeremy Spitzberg: figured out if/where you can watch the game today?
[11:09] Neal Thurman: not sure yet - more likely to watch the replay
[11:10] Jeremy Spitzberg: cos?
[11:10] Neal Thurman: nah
[11:11] Neal Thurman: will only watch if its a good match :-)
[11:11] Jeremy Spitzberg: ha
[11:11] Jeremy Spitzberg: though i guess i can't accuse you of being a fair weather fan
[11:11] Neal Thurman: its on Setanta and I have a hard time watching the lower quality video over ITVN unless I know its worth it (see Manchester Derby on Sunday)
[11:52] Jeremy Spitzberg: lucky you...
[11:52] Jeremy Spitzberg: mok on the bench
[11:54] Neal Thurman: whew!
[11:55] Neal Thurman: lets hear it for jet lag
[12:46] Neal Thurman: would be very interested to see how Arsenal's formation looks today with Flamini, Cesc, and Gilberto all involved
[12:46] Jeremy Spitzberg: guessing cesc on the right
[12:46] Jeremy Spitzberg: hleb left
[12:46] Jeremy Spitzberg: maybe a diamond?
[12:46] Jeremy Spitzberg: flamini at the point! ;-)
[12:46] Neal Thurman: lol
[12:47] Neal Thurman: Maybe Flamini just moved up a slot from his standout left back role of last year with Gilberto taking his usual role and Cesc being Cesc and Hleb on the right
[12:48] Jeremy Spitzberg: could be
[12:48] Neal Thurman: Flamini really is the ultimate utility player except that he found a place where he's actually the best option this year
[12:48] Jeremy Spitzberg: but they better be careful
[12:48] Jeremy Spitzberg: rovers coming too close
[12:49] Jeremy Spitzberg: on matchcast...
[12:50] Jeremy Spitzberg: Warnock driving forward for Blackburn, dinking a ball over Senderos... he gets a touch on it facing his own goal and it is enough to put off Santa Cruz, whose diving shot is over the bar. He was almost in there.
[12:50] Jeremy Spitzberg: McCarthy gets a head to it AND SANTA CRUZ DIVES... HIS OWN TOUCH IS NOT ENOUGH! The ball runs out for a goal-kick. They were practically unmarked.
[13:54] Neal Thurman: whew
[13:54] Jeremy Spitzberg: nervous times ;-)
[13:54] Jeremy Spitzberg: should have pulled the trigger on my trade
[13:55] Neal Thurman: to get you to K2?
[13:55] Jeremy Spitzberg: y
[13:55] Neal Thurman: not sure K2 would have been any better than Berbs - maybe a few points
[13:55] Jeremy Spitzberg: but would have kept me on palacios
[13:55] Jeremy Spitzberg: for pts too
[13:55] Jeremy Spitzberg: oh well
[13:55] Neal Thurman: wow, the British Isles are being invaded by Italians
[13:56] Jeremy Spitzberg: trap?
[13:56] Neal Thurman: y
[13:56] Jeremy Spitzberg: anything u can do, we can do better
[13:56] Neal Thurman: those guys haven't sent this many people across the channel since the glory days of the Roman Empire
