Edman in line for Latics debut

Wed Feb 20 05:26PM by Jeremy

Swedish defender Erik Edman looks set to be handed his Wigan debut against fellow Premier League strugglers Derby on Saturday. The full-back arrived at the JJB Stadium during the January transfer window but picked up a calf strain in training soon after completing his switch from French side Rennes.

Now back to full fitness, Steve Bruce is hoping that the return of the Sweden international will allow him to move Kevin Kilbane to his favoured position on the left-wing.

"Killa has done fantastically well at left-back but I'd love to push him one place up the pitch," Bruce told the Wigan Evening Post.

Looks like even with Ryan Taylor out for several weeks (rib injury) Koumas isn't going to make Bruce's starting XI.  How far the blog favorites have fallen!  But now Kilbane (6.74) and Edman (5.68) have to come into fantasy manager's reckoning this weekend.  Last match against Sunderland, Koumas was already on the pitch and taking charge of the dead balls by the time Taylor came off injured.  So perhaps some combination of Valencia (7.01) and Kilbane?  We'll try to find out anything we can from Thursday's reserve match, but that information is hard to come by and of questionable utility at best.

what is his reasoning behind not starting Koumas? he is clearly the most talented player on that team.

I kept Koumas in my line-up for weeks on end waiting for Bruce to come to his senses. Finally I sold Koumas to make room for a regular starter. Did Koumas offend Bruce's mother? What is the deal?

Let's see who's the visionary here: Who knows who's gonna partner who in the WIGan attacking pair: HESKEY? / M.BENT?/ KING... who knows who's the nš1 striker & which one of them will be doped to the bench? [[[Neal & Jeremy don't forget to give your opinion, as all the thoughts will be importants to your readers in such a week, as they play DERby @home!

yes I didn't even mention Sibierski. Last week I read in one or two of those brilliant UK online newspapers that he would "Start" as lonely striker, so I don't know why I believed & as I'm looking for a top 10 place in the overall leaderbord (I was nš7 a few weeks ago, but last weeks were terrible & now 100's :(, so a striker in my midfield (&bargain) could be crucial, but he was not even in the bench!

koumas lost his position to a right back, now losing it to a part time left back. Kilban is no way as good as koumas, bruce is absolutely barking !!!!
