Arsenal defender Kolo Toure has been ruled out for at least three weeks with a calf injury boss Arsene Wenger blames on the African Cup of Nations.
The Ivory Coast centre back was taken off early in the Champions League last 16 first leg goalless draw at home to reigning champions Milan after blocking a shot by Brazilian youngster Pato.
"Kolo has a calf injury and from what I can see he will be out for at least three to four weeks," Wenger said after the match. "The injury was a consequence of the African Nations Cup."

Good news for everyone (Hi, Mike) who held Senderos through the Cup of Nations and didn't sell him after his goal-scoring exploits in the Rovers match. Bad news for Arsenal though.

I love how trainers can so easily dismiss any injury to their players. As if they don't have medical staff at Arsenal who check the fitness of their players before they go on the pitch. No Arsene, the injury was suffered in the game against Milan. Sheesh.

Posted by: dugferd on Thu Feb 21 10:18PM | Report abuseI just want to warn and alert that Birmingham held arsenal to a draw in emirates. I suspect they might get more dangerous at home with mcleish giving them a martin o'neill look to his squad. Birmingham have become like terriers these days and by the way. But my biggest suspicion is that a fresh Mcfadden IS GOING TO SCORE AGAINST ARSENAL. well. For those who love risks, consider birmingham a good risk against an exhausted arsenal side
