Manchester United won the Carling Cup 4-1 on penalties against former holders Tottenham Hotspur after 120 goalless minutes at Wembley. More
- As the celebrations continue on the Wembley pitch, it just remains to thank you for joining us this afternoon. Manchester United are the Carling Cup-winners!
4-1 Anderson to win it... SCORES!!!! MANCHESTER UNITED WIN THE CARLING CUP!!!
3-1 David Bentley... MISSES!!!! WIDE OF THE LEFT-HAND POST!!
3-1 Cristiano Ronaldo... SCORES!!! Gomes dives the wrong way!
2-1 Vedran Corluka... SCORES!!! DOWN THE MIDDLE!
2-0 Carlos Tevez... SCORES!!! Bottom-right corner!
1-0 Jamie O'Hara... SAVED!! Foster dives to his left!
1-0 Ryan Giggs steps up... SCORES! In off the post!
123' Anderson blazes a last-ditch shot into the crowd - AND IT'S PENALTIES!
119' EVRA!! Meets Evans's cross from the right with a rising left-foot effort that flashes just over the bar! And we have a change of linesman...
115' Ronaldo gives the ball away and admonishes himself... Modric races into the box and Ferdinand blocks his shot. It comes to BENT!!! FOSTER SAVES WITH HIS LEGS!
113' A lengthy stoppage as Dawson receives treatment. About eight minutes to play.
108' Classic Paul Scholes challenge on Gareth Bale - yellow card.
105' Half-time in extra time. We are 15 minutes away from a penalty shoot-out!
99' Tottenham make their second change - Gareth Bale replaces the cream crackered Jenas.
91' Ryan Giggs is on for Manchester United - he replaces Darron Gibson.
90+4' There's the final whistle, and we are heading for extra-time! Stay with us...
90+3' RONALDO HITS THE POST!!! He jinks inside from the right and batters a left-foot shot that hits the inside of the right-hand post!! So unlucky!
85' Evra goes down clutching his shin after a tackle in midfield... He looks to be in a lot of pain, but then he jumps back to his feet and appears fine. Some powers of recovery...
76' Vidic replaces John O'Shea - presumably a disciplinary decision, that.
75' ANDERSON!!! He cracks a powerful low shot from outside the box, and Gomes makes a decent save.
71' Assou-Ekotto plays the ball into the box from the left and it finds Lennon in space on the right... HIS SHOT IS SAVED BY FOSTER!! Best chance of the match!
67' CONTROVERSY!! Ledley King clips Ronaldo inside the box and the winger goes to ground - he is booked for diving!!
65' The quite hopeless Roman Pavlyuchenko makes way for Jamie O'Hara. Robbie Keane is cup-tied, of course.
64' O'Shea goes in late with a clumsy challenge on Modric, and he is lucky not to see a second yellow card. Lenient refereeing from Chris Foy.
61' TEVEZ!!! Tries to deflect a wayward Evans shot goalwards with an instinctive flick, but he sends the ball just wide from a couple of yards!
58' O'Shea is booked for persistent fouling and Modric delivers yet another free-kick, which Foster punches well away.
56' Manchester United bring on Anderson for Danny Welbeck... Cristiano Ronaldo may well be going up front now.
46' United kick off the second half, with the posh seats still almost entirely empty. No changes in personnel from either manager.
45+2' It is goalless at the break, although both sides have had their moments. Tottenham will be the happier side going into the dressing rooms.
24' RIO FERDINAND!!! He controls a clearance on his knee and unleashes a dipping 35-yard volley that drops inches over the bar! What an effort.
18' Chance for Tottenham! Lennon runs inside from the right to receive a ball into the box and pulls it back towards Pavlyuchenko, but Ferdinand clears.
15' NANI!! Cuts inside Lennon and fires low towards the near post, Gomes tips it wide!
13' GIBSON!!! He is not closed down and fires off a powerful shot from 25 yards... JUST WIDE! Great strike, unlucky.
7' Ronaldo again! Fires another shot from the right side of the box but it is straight at Gomes.
6' RONALDO!! Smashes a powerful shot just over. There's a surprise...
1' GAME ON! Spurs kick off and immediately knock it long, giving United keeper Ben Foster an early touch.
- Injury news: Jonathan Woodgate has an achilles injury, while a virus has sidelined Wayne Rooney. Both men would have started.

amooti peter uganda fan

whos the man of the match?

"how many United fans come from Manchester. I could say the same about any club, Liverpool have their share of glory hunter fans as do Chelsea and Arsenal. I would, however, ask you this. How many Beatles fans came from Liverpool from their millions of fans?"
Ok dumbo, I'll explain why you are wrong. For a start this is football not music, so it's a completely different issue. In the World Cup or Euros you support your home nation right? As do those from every other nation! The same goes for real football supporters on a local level. The majority of real football fans go to see their local team with their folks etc and the support is handed down generation to generation, not because their team is winning everything. Glory hunters on the other hand, (people like you) are the kiddies who chose 'their' team on the basis of who was winning at the time. They were never true football fans, hunting the glory of being part of the support of the winning team is very childish and sad. When you hear the excuses for why the glory hunter support a team 300 miles from where they grew up, when there were other fine teams on their doorsteps you have to laugh. It's pathetic because you are kidding yourselves. Sorry if the truth hurts!

Incidentally, wasn't Bentley's miss a splendid moment when United and Arsenal fans could unite in mutual joy? Israel and Gaza take note - find a mutually-hated scapegoat and rip the p1ss out of it. Job done.

'Yahoo's "Invalid Comment" system is absolute Clown Shoes.' The man makes a very fair point. No wonder the company is going down the khazi...

Yahoo's "Invalid Comment" system is absolute Clown Shoes. You are TERRIBLE, Yahoo! Posts about football are invalidated, and yet, spam posts are allowed! What a stupid joke, Yahoo!

Manchester United we stand

Thank you Sir Alex.
What will they offer him when he wins all the trophies this year? Cannot be a Knighthood, not being made a Lord,
Got it, perhaps he should give that gutless scots idot some advice on how to run a country. How to manage a team of MP's How to make money, how to bring success. Possibly make him Head of the Bank of England, even though he is a scot.
