90+4' The full-time whistle goes and Liverpool are through to the fourth round of the Carling Cup with a 1-0 win that is harsh on Leeds.
90+3' Gerrard blasts the ball at goal but Higgs pulls off the save. Time is almost up though...
90' Final change for Liverpool. Skrtel takes the place of Babel.
89' Simon Grayson makes his final change. Showunmi replaces Doyle.
88' Babel turns Kisnorbo and blasts a shot that goes just over the bar.
82' Third and final change for Leeds. Mike Grella replaces Becchio.
79' Leeds make their second substitution. Neil Kilkenny replaces Hughes.
78' Stevie G is coming on for Liverpool. David Ngog is the man to make way.
72' First change for Liverpool. Johnson replaces Degen at right back. The Swiss hasn't had a bad game but Johnson might help put this game to bed.
66' GOAL FOR LIVERPOOL! Ngog gives the visitors a lead they don't deserve. Mascherano's mishit shot was controlled by the striker who tucked his strike into the bottom corner.
64' ANOTHER CHANCE FOR LEEDS! Beckford's acrobatic attempt with his back to goal is just too high.
62' You reap what you sow! Mascherano lands awkwardly after challenging for a ball. The midfielder's in some pain.
60' As well he might try and look innocent! Replays show the midfielder turned and gave Beckford a clout on the back of the head. The Argentine would have been in big trouble if Alan Wiley had seen that.
54' CHANCE FOR BECKFORD! A long ball down the pitch by Higgs sees the striker get in between Kyrgiakos and Carragher but he pokes his shot too close to Cavalieri.
45' We're back out for the start of the second half. Liverpool to get the game back underway.
45+1' It's half-time at Elland Road. The match is goalless but it might easily have been the home side in the lead. A disallowed goal in the 13th minute is the first half's major talking point.
44' Great save Higgs! Riera powers a header at goal from Aurelio's free-kick but Higgs reacts superbly, diving to his right to push the ball away.
43' Yellow peril! Crowe goes into the book now after a tackle on Ngog.
41' Kygriakos takes down Becchio on the halfway line when the attacker looked to break away. A crude challenge and a deserved yellow card.
32' Great combination play between Beckford and Snodgrass sees the latter aim a cross to the back post. Cavalieri misses the ball, but Degen is there in the nick of time to head away.
30' Half-chance for Liverpool. Babel runs forcefully at Leeds' backtracking defence but, as is so often the case with the Dutchman, the final ball is lacking. His cross/shot is straight at Higgs.
23' There's a concern for Liverpool as Degen limps away from a challenge by Johnson.
12' GOAL DISALLOWED! Michalik heads down a corner and Beckford gets a touch in front of Cavalieri to turn the ball past the keeper. Becchio is on the line to apply the finish. Leeds celebrate but the flag is up!
11' Very very good chance for Leeds! Michael Doyle is plum centre of goal but heads wide from eight yards. It was a great ball in from Snodgrass.
1' And we're off! Beckford nudges the ball to Snodgrass and we have kick-off.

yay for LIVERPOOL

valentine, it was not a first team

good job Leeds, Reds aaaahhhh barely pulled it off, uff

`LIVERPOOL SHOULD BE ASHAMED DESPITE USING A FIRST TEAM AGAINST A MERE CHAMPIONSHIP SIDE THEY STILL HAVE TO CHEAT TO WIN

Unlucky Leeds. You didn't deserve that. WELL PLAYED and best wishes for the rest of the season

How could the referee miss Mascherano's blatant smack across the back of Beckford's head with his arm as the television replay shows that he had a clear view of what happened and yet he totally ignores what had occured and allows play to continue. By all accounts Mascherano should have be red carded and sent off instead he is allowed to stay on the pitch when Liverpool scored when they should have been down to ten (10) men and most likely would not have won the match.
The referee concerned should be banned from acting as an official in any capacity ie - referee, assistant referee etc for the next six (6) games to teach him a lesson the same as players who are red carded etc have to face as disciplinary action brought against them by the FA'
Apart from the above the referee also disallowed Leed's an apparently valid goal and this also has caused them to lose out to Liverpool.
It is about time the FA realised that these human errors, mistakes, or whatever you want to call them cause untold harm and problems to managers, players and fans alike and now is the time to introduce modern day technology into the game the same way as it has been introduced and is utilised fully in other sports such as Rugby, Cricket and Tennis where if there is a query raised then an action replay can be viewed and the correct decision be made thus eliminating any human error from the equasition. So with that in mind let's move forward into the 21st Century and not remain still in 20th Century.as far as Football is concerned

Yeah Wwrraaaap Leeds?

millwall.. ha ha ha, make sure you go to the match this season, because we will not be there next season, so no cup final for you next year. millwaalllllll history = 0. so @#$% off.

After that thug Mascherano thumped Beckford in the second half Leeds never regained the same fluidity in their game . Strangely the same linesman who had a clear view of the Leeds goal and raised his flag to disallow it had with the referee an equally good view of Mascherano's thuggery - the flag stayed down and no action was taken. When will we ever have decent officials in such important games ? John

That was such a good win, I feel like punching up some innocent members of the public.
INWA

It's comforting to know that Liverpool's second string isn't much better than a good league one side. Oh sorry!!! I meant "worrying" Thank goodness for Gerrard and Torres.
