    • 66' Murphy does well to cut inside on the right but fires into the side netting via a deflection for a corner.

    • 43' Daley's crowded out as Norwich come forward, and the hosts have a corner.
    • 42' Holt skews a shot high and well wide from 20 yards as he comes in off the right side. Norwich could really do with a goal before the break... Doesn't look likely though.

    • 36' GOAL FOR SUNDERLAND! What a fantastic goal as Reid scores his second!
    • 34' Leadbitter gets a talking to from the referee as he gives away a free-kick. It's floated into the area and Spillane makes it round the back post and volleys at Gordon, who makes a great reaction stop. Offside, however.
    • 32' Well those four minutes of action have taken the wind out of Norwich's sails...
    • 31' A really class finish from the Irishman! He strides clear down the left as Norwich are opened up, and from 25 yards he dinks it over Alnwick with precision and the ball dips just under the bar. Magnificent!
    • 30' GOAL FOR SUNDERLAND! Reid with a superb chip!

    • 25' Another chance goes begging for Norwich as they over-elaborate on the edge of Sunderland's area.
    • 23' Campbell flashes a ball across the danger area but Jones can't burn enough pace to get there. Lively stuff at Carrow Road...
    • 22' Jones heads wide! A well-worked move from Sunderland as Reid and McCartney combine down the left before the latter curls a cross in. Jones meets it well but directs his effort off target.
    • 20' Nosworthy gives a free-kick away 20 yards out as he climbs all over Holt, and Lappin curls the set piece over the bar.
    • 19' An absolute stinger of a shot from 30 yards from Lappin, as Gordon has to tip the ball over the bar! A cracking few minutes...
    • 18' Hoolahan opens Sunderland up again and Nosworthy has to clear and concede a throw.
    • 16' MASSIVE CHANCE FOR NORWICH! Whaley races clear onto a Holt through ball and goes one-on-one with Gordon, but there's a lack of conviction in his finish and the keeper stands firm to save.
    • 15' And it was a great fingertip save from Alnwick too! He got the slightest of touches on it. Henderson's arrowed cross for Campbell was just behind him.
    • 14' Campbell with a stunning effort off the bar! A magnificent overhead volley from the edge of the penalty area and it rattles the woodwork! So close!
    • 12' Spillane slices a clearance over his own bar as Henderson puts a cross into the six-yard area! Moments earlier Doherty did well to shepherd Edwards away from goal.
    • 11' Da Silva flashes a near-post header just wide from a Reid corner! Unmarked and a free run, the defender almost marks his first game with a goal...
    • 9' Sunderland with a spell of pressure as Jones and Reid both cause problems down the left. The Irishman tries to find Campbell with a reverse pass, but they're not on the same wavelength.
    • 8' Paulo da Silva making his debut for Sunderland - will be interesting to see how he fares...
    • 6' Daley gets in behind as Whaley dinks a great ball in. Nosworthy shunts him off the ball however and there are calls from the home crowd for a penalty. Never was though, just strong-armed defending from the Nose. First opening of the game...
    • 5' Nice link-up between Holt and Hoolahan in midfield before the Norwich captain over-hits a cross.
    • 3' Good burst from Hoolahan as he wins a free-kick having run through a few challenges. McCartney is forced to concede a throw.
    • 2' Good, strong start from Norwich as Whaley flings a cross in from the right side which Hoolahan can't reach.
    • 1' And we're underway...
    • - Moments away from kick-off now...
    • - Interesting line-up for Sunderland with just Jones and McCartney remaining from the side that started the game against Blackburn. A chance for Fraizer Campbell to stake a claim here in his first start of the season...
    • - So how will this one go? Norwich are on a high after their win over Wycombe, but Sunderland are also going well in the league having taken six points from their opening three games...
    • - And the subs for each side... Norwich: Rudd, Nelson, Hughes, Martin, McVeigh, McDonald, Smith... Sunderland: Carson, Bardsley, Ferdinand, Malbranque, Murphy, Healy, O'Donovan.
    • - And Steve Bruce has made even more changes, with nine to the side that beat Blackburn on Saturday: Sunderland: Gordon, Edwards, Nosworthy, Da Silva, McCartney, Henderson, Tainio, Leadbitter, Reid, Campbell, Jones...
    • - Team news is in, and we start with hosts Norwich. Manager Paul Lambert has made six changes from the side that beat Wycombe 5-2 in the league over the weekend: Alnwick, Otsemobor, Doherty, Spillane, Lappin, Tudur-Jones, Adeyemi, Whaley, Holt, Daley...
    • - Good evening and welcome to our live updates of Norwich and Sunderland's Carling Cup second round tie.

  1. So basically steve your saying that norwich supporters are faithful the their club? and that instead they should just change to a club that actually win games rather than the club they like? what are you, 12 years old?

  5. un like the Norwich city fans who are having a whale of a time in thinking that they are a forward thinking club
Reborn in an afternoon, with paul lambo at the helm. and beating W W five two. Oh yes W W a former non league club.
So the sister sleeping supporters hale the new coming! the board rest safe in the knowledge that the fans are as thick as a ...Well an inbred of course they no the score... they no they are safe. so they will continue too miss manage a once great club...they were handed the mandate from Robert chase..
and told to run with it. and so they have...and so the ambitions of the board will be realised and Norwich will undoubtedly become a non league club.
That is unless the blood of Norfolk is diluted by some outsiders from say London or god bless from Suffolk..they no what true ambition is they have the manager and the board in place.
WAKE up people too how your club is being run.....

  6. I have lived in Norwich, ever since the time my mother. spewed me out of her sewer into a grey February morning.
It was a cold dark night. the mist was swirling around the Norfolk and Norwich hospital.
the moon shone through for a brief second, before being swollowed again in a devouring devilish dirty fog.
The poor old midwife screamed and ran down the ward slapping herself as she went..
My good old mother, looked in horror at my father.Who as it happens turns out to be my uncle as well.
But i digress, the midwife was still screaming, slapping her self and the nurse who asked her what the matter was.
And she told the nurse that the baby she had just delivered, had webbed feet...
The nurse laughed a hearty laugh and thought she must be from outside of Norfolk!
and told her to look at all the other children's feet in the ward....Look she said its normal for Norfolk.
some have webbed feet, some have webbed hands.. but that the hands was a rare one, as that is passed from father to daughter, and only happens about one in every ten kids.
Most of our inflictions here are deafness dumbness and blindness
So dont worry your pretty foriegn head about it. they will all grow up to be Norwich city supporters anyway!
And so it has come to pass that the good inbred people of Norwich city are DEAF DUMB AND BLIND.
For they continue to follow blindly and mutely as there team is run into the ground by Delia smith....the self confessed Ipswich supporter.
So as Delia grows rich off the backs of the Norwich city faithful....they all follow follow..the Ignorance of the inbred supporters is quite astounding.
for they surely must be 1st class simpletons of the highest degree, to put up with the club. they say they love.
And stand by and watch it run into the laughing stock of British football.
The foreign nurse went back home to London bye the way..Just in case you were wondering like! these cockney's never stay the course.
