    • 75' Cahill and Yakubu in a good move for Everton and it falls for Neill, whose pass just fails to reach Rodwell. Good situation for Everton, but Spurs can break.

    • 71' Bentley, who is having a good game now, with the corner, but that's cleared by Everton.
    • 70' Bentley again into Keane, who is one-on-one, but Heitinga just gets across to make the tackle.

    • 65' Fellaini makes Gomes make another save! Low strike from Fellaini and the keeper turns it away for a corner.
    • 64' This one goes to the back post where Distin gets it clear, then Assou-Ekotto has a go from miles out which is...miles wide!
    • 63' Bentley with a corner for Spurs, which Jo heads away. It's another corner though.

    • 52' Keane stays down, but is up now and should be OK to carry on, but he is hobbling quite badly.
    • 51' Huddlestone to Keane - great ball, but he's challenged and goes down holding his head. More good defending from Everton.
    • 49' Bentley sets up Keane, who feeds Pavlyuchenko, but great defending from Heitinga for Everton.

    • 48' Hibbert has gone to left back with Neill at right back now for Everton.
    • 47' Gomes saves from Cahill! Jo with his first touch sets up Cahill, who shoots left footed and that's a decent save!
    • 46' Back underway with the second half at White Hart Lane and Jo is on for Saha for Everton.
    • - The whistle goes for half time. 1-0 Spurs. Back with more soon (and perhaps an updated team sheet with a bit of luck.)
    • 45' Into two mins of added time now, as Pavlyuchenko penalised for handball.
    • 44' Cahill takes a knock in a challenge for the ball, but he should be OK.
    • 44' Tight offside decision there on Keane, who had broken through the Everton defence. Poor decision there from the official.

    • 42' Everton have a corner, but the ball in is a poor one from Gosling.
    • 40' Bentley and Hutton combining and Hutton's cross is cleared. Spurs on top just now.

    • 35' Bale hits a free kick in towards Dawson and Neill gets it clear.
    • 33' Hibbert is booked for a foul on Hutton.

    • 22' Pavlyuchenko with a chance now for Spurs and his shot goes wide! Good opportunity for Spurs.
    • 21' Fellaini again involved as he cathes Palacios in the face. Now Pavlyuchenko goes down, then gets back up again very quickly.
    • 19' Spurs get a free kick. Fellaini the culprit this time.
    • 18' Dawson gets a talking to from the referee after a couple of fouls. Rodwell with the free kick for Everton, but Palacios gets it clear.
    • 16' Hutton to Palacios, then to Bentley and Pavlyuchenko tries to flick it to Huddlestone, but it's not quite accurate enough. Good move though.
    • 15' Gosling tries a left footed volley, but that one flies well over the bar of Gomes.
    • 13' Bentley again down the right and Cahill blocks this one. Bentley's had a few crossing attempts, but hasn't taken advantage of them yet.
    • 11' Hutton and Bentley combine, but Distin gets the cross away and Everton come away with the ball. Rodwell has a shot, but it deflects off Cahill and goes wide.
    • 10' Distin in two minds there as Keane closes in, but Howard comes to collect in the end.
    • 9' Very bright start here at White Hart Lane, as Bentley tries the shot, which is mis-hit in the end.
    • 8' Chance for Keane now, but he tries to play in Pavlyuchenko and the chance is gone.
    • 7' We're having a technical problem changing the expected team line-up's by the way, but I'm assured it will change soon.
    • 6' Spurs breaking now with Pavlyuchenko and Hibbert whacks it clear.
    • 5' Saha takes the shot and Gomes has to make a great save to tip it over the bar!!
    • 4' Heitinga hits it, but it hits the wall and bounces to safety.
    • 4' Free kick to Everton here in a great position. Dawson fouling Saha there on the edge of the area.
    • 3' Bentley takes it and Distin gets it clear. Bale puts it back in, then Palacios does the same and Everton are awarded a free kick for a foul on Fellaini.
    • 2' Early corner to Spurs, who have started brightly.
    • 2' Bentley down the right for Spurs early on here, as Everton sport an unusual purple kit.
    • 1' We're underway at White Hart Lane!
    • - The last time these two side met in any cup competition was in the 1995 FA Cup Semi Final in which Everton emerged victorious 4-1 with goals from Daniel Amokachi (2), Graham Stuart and Matt Jackson. Spurs' scorer that day was Jurgen Klinsmann.
    • - Everton have won in their last three visits to White Hart Lane.
    • - Spurs, meanwhile have won the League Cup four times and have reached at least the last eight in five of the last sixm seasons.
    • - A few stats for you as we await this 8pm kick-off: Everton, surprisingly, have never won the League Cup in their history and have only made it past the quater finals in their last 21 attempts.
    • - On the bench for the hosts tonight are: - Button, Jenas, Naughton, Corluka, Dervite, Parrett, and Kane.
    • - And the Spurs starting line-up is: - Gomes; Hutton, Bassong, Dawson, Assou-Ekotto; Bentley, Huddlestone, Palacios, Bale; Keane, Pavlyuchenko.
    • - The subs for the Toffees tonight are: Jo, Carlo Nash, James Wallace, Jose Baxter, Kieran Agard, Seamus Coleman and Shane Duffy.
    • - Everton team news is in and their side tonight looks like this: Howard; Hibbert, Heitinga, Distin, Neill; Rodwell, Gosling, Fellaini, Cahill (captain), Rodwell; Yakubu, Saha.
    • - This is the first ever meeting between the two teams in the League Cup in any of its guises!
    • - Still waiting for the official team news to filter through, but Spurs look set to be without Aaron Lennon, Ledley King, Nico Kranjcar, Jonathan Woodgate and Jermain Defoe.

  3. 172. rblackhurst2008,

Your claims are fake and unfounded. Keane isn't a Liverpool cast-off - It is the other way around. Crouch could of gone to Spurs earlier but he wasn't half the player he is now. I am not saying Crouch is the best striker around either.

No disrespect I like Tottenham although like Everton the team I grew up supporting they are poor relations.
I am a great admirer of Ledley King and even Defoe has played quite well this season
players like Lennon, Keane and Crouch are nothing great.
Keane and Crouch are Liverpool cast offs and the most amusing thing is Spurs could have secured Crouch on a contract as a youth team player for nothing.
Under Redknapp you can look forward to success in cup competitions but will never win the premiership.

  5. Heitinka should go to spurs. Seems like he is a good player that needs a good home (no offence meant blues)

  7. #101 & #102 Not sure how you figure Oct 22- Oct 27 is 72 hours, but I am fairly certain that Spurs haven't LOST three games in that amount of time with half a squad. And why would you brag about a 5th place finish? Everton were the best team NOT to qualify for the CL -- yippee!

From WilsonJet, on Wed 28 Oct 3:41AM
  8. More muppet excuses... you were outplayed by a team without its top striker, wingers, and center backs.
I'll bet Everton doesn't finish ahead of Tottenham in any competion this year.
